How are you trolling for them in Texas? I used a 3 way swivel with a dropper weight on one end and a dodger with a hoochie tipped with an anchovie in the San Francisco Bay.

Pretty much this set up

I remember some south of the border, though that was in a different life.

I just realized half of my post got cut off somewhere. I will have my son with me and would like to get them on some fish if it all possible if flounder doesn't work out do any of you guys have suggestions for Plan B? We will start out in Port Aransas drifting or trolling for flounder but if that does not work out I was thinking a trying for trout or maybe even some sheepshead around the jetties. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I've never done much jetty fishing, but locating a drain into the shrimp boat channel (or otherwise)and fishing on the bottom with a Texas rig (slip weight with a swivel for a stop and about 18" leader before a kahle hook w/fresh shrimp). I used this method successfully many times for sheephead. You just need to keep a tight line between you and the slip weight (1 oz) and the sheephead will hook themselves. This method for sheephead is much better than getting beat to death at the jetties. My $.02

Saw a report on Texas Fish N Tips that sheephead, reds, and trout are thick at the end of either Port A jetty. I'd try that as a plan b

Sorry for the late report guys been busy this week.

So the original plan what's the drive down to Port A, launch the jet skis and fish for flounder. I have to work Friday night and my buddy was going to drive down but he didn't get off work late so we got a late start on Saturday morning and didn't end up leaving town till 7 a.m.

On the way down I looked at the wind which was originally going to be around 8 to 10 mph, but instead changed to 14mph. We decided to pop in at the packery channel jetties to see how the surf was.

When we got there we were greeted with chocolate brown water and about three to four foot rollers at the beach so we decided to just fish the chanel side from the jetties.

We threw live shrimp and minnows in hopes of some sheepshead and flounder. About a half-hour in my son hooks up an undersized flounder.

We fished the rest of the day with a few hard heads pinfish and gaftop and called it quits at about 4 p.m. since we had a lengthy drive back to San Antonio.

All in all it wasn't a bad day, my son caught his first flounder and we're hoping to come back sometime after Christmas.

I'll have to read up on posting pictures and I'll post them when I figure it out nothing too special.
