After checking the tides and other data on tides4fishing website and viewing the PINS Malaquite beach cam, I opted to be feet in the sand around noon. Sun beaming, beach full of people/vehicles and good looking water had me stopping around beach marker 250 to fish. Put two single-drop bottom rigs with 1 oz. pyramids, circle hooks and shrimp Fishbites on the front and back sides of the first gut with a long rod rigged up the same way in the middle of the second gut. Lit a cigar, opened a Shiner Bock and took in the scenery.
About ten minutes later, both baits in the first gut resulted in two medium-sized whiting which became crane food. Nada on the long rod. Back in the water and less than ten minutes later two more whiting/crane food. Cricket sound for the long rod. Bite was consistent in the first gut for 1-3/4 hours then nada for 30' or so. Saw ZERO bait activity within cast net distance from noon to three. Just after three saw my first school of finger mullet within throwing distance but never deployed the net. Bite returned with many more crane food whiting. Incoming tide really ramped up so I left at 4:30 with a good time on the beach accomplished. BTW, NADA on the long rod with Fishbites in the second gut.

Onward, thru the Fog!
