A fellow volleyball referee wanted me to take him fishing to the surf some time so we went out this morning about 7. Got south of Bob Hall and the water was a lot rougher than I had anticipated. Not unfishable just rougher than what I anticipated. However the weed was very bad also which was making it next to impossible to fish. There was bait in the water early but shortly after Sunrise disappeared. All we can manage all day was a couple Whiting several gafftop a 10in redfish and another 10 in drum and that was about it. Water was not very clear it was hard to distinguish the guts and the sandbars.

Same here - my usual fishing bud , my oldest daughter and I were planning to head out - around 10. Car trouble kept us from going - and your report, kept me from getting too disappointed.

If you can believe this z-man, i still have not lined the new cabela reel. The reel it was supposed to replace, was able to be repaired - so now , i guess its in the bull pen, but i do need to line it.

It's the only good in the bullpen if it's ready to come in and pitch.

And even worse, i have the line, the line holder, and a place cleared off where I can do it. I would have joined, Procrastinators International, except... you guessed it.

Wife and I hit the beach this morning and never even wet a line.
Murky water, weed, current, no bird activity.
We just went back home.
Wind blew all night. Waves and current were not a surprise, but the weed was. As was the lack of bird, bait activity.

Set up a little south of the bowl Saturday. Weed was there, but fishable. That is until high tide, but the fish shut off then anyway. Got into a huge stingray, on the lightest rod of course - and in the first gut. That was fun till it broke off in the wash. Watch your steps. Also blacktip, pompano, one little red, and the usual ladyfish and whiting. All but the shark were in the first gut.

Decent last few days on PINS. Trout, reds, smacks, sharks and all the little stuff. Most on lures and flies with a few on finger mullet. Everything was caught in very skinny water in the first gut with lots of sight casting to fish. Lots of people with lines out over the first and second bars but were struggling to catch fish. Weed was annoying at times but tolerable. Jeff Wolda

Fished since Thursday through Sunday morning down at the 20. Had good fishing all but today. Caught 3 slot reds, 5 specks, pompano, whiting, a black drum, and 2 5 ft blacktips. Was a great trip for my brother who came from AZ to fish. Water was very clear down there but a bit rough. Even had a couple small tarpon on. Mullet were everywhere.

Glad you had a successful trip to gkrane. A friend of mine was out at the packery jetty today surfing. He said the weeds we're not as bad today at this end.
