Does anyone on this forum know WHO to contact at PINS regarding getting the Malaquite beach cam lens cleaned? I've called repeatedly and asked that the lens be cleaned with, obviously, no positive action or result. I've even offered, in person, to provide them some lens cleaners. No joy.

I would bet they have a third party that manages the cam equipment for them, and the park personnel probably know nothing about maintaining it. They should get in contact with their provider though, if enough people complain. But if it costs money to get it cleaned, it has to go through all the federal red tape to get the funds.

Could be wrong though.

I'm half tempted to take a ladder and some windex and go to town next time I'm there...

Just in from Ranger Buzz,

"Tomorrow someone is going to climb tup and try cleaning the lens in the hopes that the haziness is due to a build-up of chemicals from the water we spray on it to wash off the salt grime. If that doesn't solve the problem then the camera will need replacing.

"A replacement camera exists and I took it to our IT specialist for formatting about 3 months ago but he left before it was done. We currently are without anyone that can do IT work so if the camera needs replacing it may take a while."
