New Firearms Law

As of February 22, 2010, a new federal law allows people who can legally possess firearms under applicable federal, state, and local laws, to legally possess firearms in this park. It is the responsibility of visitors to understand and comply with all applicable state, local, and federal firearms laws before entering this park. Please visit our state's various websites for more information:

Guess this means I can have a pistol in my vehicle without a permit. Just cant take it out and start plinking or let others see it.....
Unless I want to use it on them because of their bad behavior

Would this be a correct assesment?
I really dont want to end up in federal prison for bringing protection with me to fish.

You are correct. A while back I was pulled over on Pins for doing 2 miles over the speed limit. The park ranger came up to my truck And his first question was do I have any weapons in the truck. I said yes that there was a pistol in the center console. He then asked if it was loaded and I told him yes it was. He said that

He said that was fine. Just not to reach for it. No kidding. After that he just grabbed my ID and insurance info to check for warrants and he let me go with a verbal warning. This was during the 15mph season about 35 miles down PINS. I was doing 17mph according to him. So in my experience a pistol in your truck is no big deal. I would also add that firing a weapon any where other than a range or private property is a bad idea.

Whats even dumber is the idiots and I will see them this weekend no doubt, driving 55 to 60 passing 10 feet from my parked vehicle down the island, not knowing if a have a child or a dog, wandering around. If a lot of them had the sense , that I see of a few , of slowing down to 10-15 as they pass camps up and down the island, my guess is they wouldnt pass such ignorant rules like 15 mph 35 miles down the island.

What are and where can I find a list of speed limits.
Last time I was down I kept looking for signs I didnt see any after about 1 mile on the sand.
Funny I kept looking for mm and only found one. Dont know if maybe I was concentrating on making sure I didnt run over anyone or pi$$ anyone off going to slow or too close.

June 21st is hike naked day worldwide. According to the national parks website nudity on National Parks is not a federal crime. However I bet if you were fishing naked Ranger Rick would have a problem with that

I was going to ask, is Ranger Rick still around ? Is there really a Ranger Rick, or is that a name applied to all/most of them.

I've seen some of the photos from the French Quarter and the recent worldwide Naked Bike Riding Day Crying or Very sad , but my question is, "Zia, Just how do you know about worldwide Hike Naked Day"?

Must be a big New Mexico thing, cause the middle of summer ain't the best time to get that first real sunburn on otherwise unexposed skin!!!

Where is this guy when those ***wipes haul *** at 60+ 10 feet from campsites with children, old folks, pets, and lines out? Going after the fella that mashed his pedal a tad too much, maybe to get through a soft spot? Rolling Eyes

Their enforcement lacks focus.
