I usually just fish at piers, jetties and banks for about 24+ hours and then drive 4 hours back home.
Not going to do this any more. To dangerous for all concerned nowdays (getting to old I guess Wink )

I should mention I have a truck but only 2 wd not 4wd

Any way I am wondering about camping safety on the beach say south of bob hall and north of packery starting right at the jetties.

I know there are tide issues but I have (from bob hall) watched the idiots doing donuts and driving 40-50 mph down the beach. I wanted to put a tent next to my truck but have been a little concerned about getting run over. I dont really want a truck bed tent if I dont have to.
What are your thoughts. Any really safe way to do this if I am in a high traffic area? Do's and Dont's both for beach etiquette and safety?

Back in the day at Ft Hood some guys in the field got ran over by night maneuvers I dont want that happening.

After Hurricane Harvey south of Bob Hall there a lot of areas that are washed out and you can actually pull your truck up closer to the dudes and pitcha tent and have a little bit of safety surrounding you

Good advice there, just keep in mind that you still need to be smart about driving the beach in 2wd. Most of the time packery and south of bob hall are very 2wd accessible but some beach access roads and some spots along the beach can become very soft and unavoidable if there's lots of traffic. My camping advice is to get up by the dunes in a protected area as much as you can. That's what i try to do and park my truck so as to block the tent as much as possible. It also helps as a wind break.

Sounds good, now all I need to do is find out where to get the parking and camping permits for these 2 areas. Oh yeah I should probably put a lock on my big ice chest after the reports of the fishnappers from 2 weeks ago. Mad
Thanks for the advice and the info.

That first access at Bob Hall Pier is very torn up right now. Vehicles are getting stuck left and right.

Entering down by the sticks is accessible and work your way back

Good idea most folks don't know that. The problem was everyone was just past the water line parked so any hard packed stuff was blocked with tents and canopys or vehicles.

I thought that area was bad on Friday, but by Sunday, it was total bedlam and mass hysteria. If I was a unscrupulous Jeep owner, I could have made some serious Holiday $$ pulling folks out.

Forty years of darkness, earthquakes, volcanoes, the dead rising from the grave, human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together - mass hysteria?

Down by Malaquite. Do not have to pay there.Access rd. before you reach pay station. Free access to the beach and work your way back North. 8 miles between Bob Hall and the sticks

I believe the sign reads "North Beach Entrance" but don't confuse that with North Beach by the lexington...
