Has anyone seen mullet in the surf? If not have you seen mullet any where else to catch for bait?

been in blackwater in the surf when you could walk on the mullet
You see two things - rafts of big mullet past the gut being slashed by jacks, big specs, and sharks, and finger mullet hiding around you from the daisy chains of specs surfing every wave crest.
(have also arrived too late, when all that was left was a million pieces of mullet bobbing in the surf, and couldn't buy a strike)

But whatever baitfish sign you see in the surf is what you want to cast-net, because that's what any game fish in attendance are eating

Today at lunch, there were a lot of finger mullet in the surf, pony too , but I didnt try to cast net, though I am pretty sure it wouldnt have been to hard , as many as there were. They werent clouding the water or anything like that - but they were there. Skipjacks were cruising through , as were rays, that I could see.
