Hello everyone Im still here just been busy doing stuff while the Flat Bottom Girl is in medical care at Premiere Yamaha. Something froze up in the throttling area. Ran fine 2 weeks ago as I have been running it often while being off the water since December. But as luck would have it I was getting her all cleaned up for some fishing and she wouldn't throttle up, she would idle fine. Hoping the throttle body didn't freeze up. I cant complain I havent had a engine in the shop for repairs in many many years. I have had a number of friends tell me I should of taken it to Waypoint Marine but I did buy it at Premiere. Hopefully it wont hurt too bad when all is said and done. Im ready togo fishing and post some pics. I got a new rod and reel just dying to be broke in lol. Im feeling great, walking everyday, shedding some weight. til next time ....Cheers, IMS.

Good to see an IMS post, even sans the fish. Best of luck with the continued healing. Cool

Maybe we should run a 'gofundme' campaign for where our outboards need fixing Wink Just kidding.

I'm feeling extremely fortunate that my Big Zuk 175 is hanging in their with over a 1000 hours on her. Crossing my fingers.

The throttle body is completely frozen up from salt. The bad thing is I always wash or coat the engine. I have never had an engine that got as much salt on it as this one. I cant figure where its coming from. Last time they said there was no leak and Ryan said they will run it in the tank and his words were if they find a leak they find it if they dont they dont. That was reassuring. So it looks like a new throttle body is going to ordered. $$$$$$ Thats the way it goes. I just think there is a pressure leak somewhere putting out a fine mist. I just bought a gallon of CRC 6-56. Cheaper than spray cans. Way better than Wd-40 it doesnt mess with rubber or plastic.

I'm scratching my head on how salt water got in your throttle body, so I have to guess water is shooting up between the engine and transom, maybe due to a trim tab, transducer, etc.? Never heard of this before, but maybe it's not uncommon? I'm looking forward to you learning more and your resulting report Stan.

That is weird that enough salt water or mist got into the throttle body area to freeze up the mechanism. Something definitely isn't right. I would look for areas where water or mist could come up and block them off. Keeping the area coated as you indicated is probably also a really good idea.

One thing I used to do with mine was to take it to the car wash monthly, pull the cowling, wash down the motor with soap and water and then rinse with the spot free rinse cycle, let it dry and respray with rust preventative. Really helped and won't bother the motor.

my sho was leaking from one of the rubber water hoses on the back of the block. the hoses are attached with zip ties, and had broken. the motor wasn't leaking at idle, only when it was at high RPM, and pressured up.

Interesting! Both of the engines are fairly new, so maybe this is Stan's cause for his corrosion and maybe it's a warranty issue?
