Just how easy is it? Also, will my truck windows be there when I get back?

We used to fish the rocks all the time as a kid, (Used to catch the bus after school) but I have not taken a boat down there in almost 40 years.

Also, where exactly, is this port exclusion zone? I'd like to fish around the Lexington but don't want to irritate those guys with crew-served weapons.

This is a very good boat ramp. I have jogged/walked down on the bay front and T-Heads for several years. I never see or hear of breaking in the parking lot. Although this is mid day, we all know the gremlin thieves troll at all hours. Plenty of room to fish around the Aquarium & Lexington. The exclusion zone is back toward the harbor bridge. Mangrove snapper can be very good fishing the aquarium rocks. ..........cC

The wide ramps are steep. The narrow ones aren't. The marina patrol comes around regularly for what that's worth.

As Patrick and Cc said the ramps are good.......but don't go down there now
there are no trout. If you do and decide to fish off the rocks or steps carry a side arm.

And if you fall in the water, take off the sidearm first. Just saying... Got to remember to take mine to the gun shop for a thorough cleaning now.

I've fished by the T heads a few times. Just wondering what you've heard that makes you say to carry a side arm? If I need to, I will avoid the area all together.

There are times when some of C.C. upper crust roam the rocks and steps. Some can be very aggressive when panhandling extra change. On more than one occasion over the years there have been a number of fights.
No one told me about it I witnessed it. I've been fishing the rocks and steps downtown during the winter for more years than I can remember.

Do like I do, carry a stainless revolver and toss it in the cooler if it gets dunked then blow it out with compressed air and WD-40.

Aside from swapping out the ammo this is all I've needed to do to the gun for years. Wink

Fell in the surf on saturday, rinsed it out with freshwater, blew it out with compressed air, and the followed that with wd-40. The idea of the cooler - great idea. Its an automatic, going to take it to the gun shop to get it cleaned there, to be sure.

Not to dicount anything anyone has said here, but as an oldtimer it dismays me to learn so many feel like they need a firearm while fishing, especially "downtown". This is not to say I don't own firearm, or I'm opposed to carrying, but I have never felt threatened while fishing in my entire life, other than maybe by a guide who thought I was in his "spot". Very Happy

Wife and I stayed at the Omni in November for our 38th anniversary. We took an evening stroll along the bay front. We were not accosted, but we were approached by 2 different homeless folks suggesting we needed to help them out with some cash. I was carrying and was not intimidated but I was not comfortable enough to continue walking down to the T-heads. I won't be going back to the downtown area. I would rather walk the parks down towards South Shores. Nobody bothers us.
