Saturday morning, looks like tides are in my favor ( i read this on the internet so I know its true) but just saying it is, I am thinking about taking the subie down all the way. At high tide several times in the last several weeks, I tried to go past the 20 - and got crossways in the mush right after that MM.
And I havent been past there since the storm - I drove down to around 36 or or so the week before, no problem at all. For those of yall that have, what its look like at low tide ?
And yep, Zman, I saw your post - and realize I may not get past the 5 , but whatever , those charts are right the majority of the time (51% or a little better). Thanks for the info.
Possibilities that my wife might go this weekend - I am only going to try for the pass if I go alone - if she goes - we will have a wonderful day in the pins neighborhood , somewhere, catching whiting and taking pictures. _________________ Don - permanent prescription of salt water therapy. |

I would check this over any published tide chart
http://www.cbi.tamucc.edu/cbi/Predictions/forecasts-water-level-forecasts/
It's a sticky on the front page.
Pay attention to the black crosses. Those are the actual water levels. everything else is just a guess (and you can see how poorly the blue line - Harmonic Predicted Tide Level, a.k.a. Tide Charts, does). That's about a 1/2 a foot of extra water you got to contend with, even at low tide. |

Is that like Fire Ants, or sticker-burrs in the Bluff? Or maybe the dollar weed in the yard come April..?
I have it on good authority that the City is busting their permit with the >>3% beach slope at Lake Packery....... Man, talk about a nuisance! |

On second thought, maybe not. went down this evening , got to pins just about dark, saw seaweed everywhere - kind of like Zmans picture earlier . So I drove down a bit hoping to drive out of it - went to 5 and said, thats it. Got out - put a couple of rigs, caught lots of seaweed, lots of hardheads , and one whiting.
But maybe this weekend would be a good time to drive down all the way - and probably not be tempted to stop and fish - and I might make it to mansfield. _________________ Don - permanent prescription of salt water therapy. |

Though according to the ever reliable weather folks , thats supposed to blow in on the afternoon. What would be your prognosis for fishing (actually catching) prior to the front coming in, zman ? _________________ Don - permanent prescription of salt water therapy. |

And anyone that makes a run down pins on Friday, if you find that the seaweed lets up somewhere - please post that - and how far. _________________ Don - permanent prescription of salt water therapy. |

| The seaweed definitely didn't let up today. I am going to try again tomorrow late morning early afternoon. Couldn't keep my lines clear at all today. |

| Since we are on the subject of sea weed, can someone please explain what it is we should be looking for on the A&M sargassum report? They report weed mats, but I am not sure what it looks like on the sat photo. All I ever seem to see is water and clouds. There is one tiny little brown spot off Padre Island around Yarborough Pass area in the 11/15 photo. Is that it? |

| The stuff I ran into yesterday wasnt Sargassum, it was that grass like seaweed. Not sure of the name but it was abundant. |

Been a while since I could identify the stuff to species, but what I saw on the beach on Halloween was a non-floating red alga, probably being carried out from the bays by the out-going tides. _________________ The Trash Heap Has Spoken!
