Going on the 60 hour tuna trip with Capt Frankie in Dec. Need to pick up some block ice on the way down. Probably going thru SPID as we plan on stopping at Roy's. Any place along SPID or between flour bluff and port A that we can get some block ice.

thanks

Depending on the time you go through, Liquid Town on Waldron (just off SPID) has block ice.

Dang, I was sure more folks would chime in by now--(twice the ice) next to Liquid town liquor, on Waldon---kinda, in front of HEB.

^^^ I'm pretty sure that's only bagged ice, (or loose crushed), not Block like they need.

Doesn't that Stripes/Exxon at the corner of SPID and Waldron carry block ice? I seem to remember them having it. But that may have been years ago before I picked up the 155 Yeti-- now I only use dry ice.

HungerBuster, are you saying you use dry ice to suppliment crushed ice or simply use dry ice? Please explain your use of dry ice. Thanks in advance.

In the big cooler, I just use a five pound block of dry ice from HEB. I put previously frozen water bottles (10 regular drinking water bottles like ozarka) on either side, five on each side. The dry ice will freeze anything close to it, so you need a buffer. It'll hold for five days easy without losing temp. Just make sure you have enough mass in the cooler--otherwise the dry ice evaporates quickly.

There's a Beverage Barn on Alameda across from HEB on Robert Dr. has had block ice in the past.
