Well, hit the beach the other day to look for reds after the north flow and swells from Irma finally let up.
Bright and early.
Sat and watched the sun coming up.
Like always, all those days of north flow brought a lot of debris to the beach, from the San Bernard, Colorado, you name it....
Finally, some South Beach slot reds.
Still don't know why I don't just go down to Packery or Bob Hall beach like everybody else and pick up a quick limit of reds, but I guess one or two fish in the middle of nowhere is better than three limits surrounded by people to some of us. Kudos to the Park for moving a lot of that debris to the backbeach on the north end last Friday.
Ya'll take care, just wanted to share some photos.

Love your pictorial posts. The reading is good as well. _________________ "I do hunt and I do fish and I do not apologize to anyone that I hunt and fish." - Norman Schwarzkopf |

I hear you Deputy Dawg. I built a custom bench that I had secured to my dock, so I thought, that had a reversible back on it. When I got back after the hurricane it was gone. I guess it floated off somewhere. On the back it was appropriately stenciled "Liar's Bench". |

Yea I realized how amazing the power of water is these last couple of weeks! My mom and dad live across the street and had a HEAVY cedar "glider" on their back porch. We haven't seen it since the flood! Our whole neighborhood flooded so stuff was everywhere and still is but I've looked. I'm sure one of the buzzards, scavengers, trashpickers snatched it early on. They take POS to a whole new level! |

Yea we are okay and better than some! We were fine till they released the water out of lake Conroe! That put almost 4 feet of water into mine and mom and dad's houses! Both houses are gutted and drying now. We are still going thru the piles of ruined memories and stuff piled outside though. That's going to continue for quite awhile! Our part of town took a very hard hit but we will recover! I'm pretty thankful at this point for what we have and for the people that have helped.
Like I said earlier keep posting those trips! It's great to get away even if it's just thru a story and pictures. Take care! |

We spent 12 hours on BHP from Sat 5:30 Pm to 5:30 Am. All we caught were croakers, a couple of sand trout and 2 undersized specs. I asked everybody walking by if they caught anything and everyone said no except one guy, said he caught a 2ft hammerhead. About 230 am a guy just down from us caught a good black drum on crab fishbites, but that was I all saw or heard of that was worth much. Spent Saturday morning at Packery in the chanel area between boat ramp and jetties, sad to say same story. Hand full of croakers, a sand trout and a grunt.
Funny thing was boats came through going to jetties and bay but most seem to come back in about 30 minutes or so.

People keep telling me that. Usually get off on Friday evening and go down and fish all night till noon or so the next day making it about 12-16 hours but this was a long one.
After hearing all the good catches before going was a little disappointed I didnt get any reds or trout. I usually get at least 1 keeper red and 3-4 decent trout.
Im thinking on the pier that it was the thousands and thousands of jelly fish in the water. _________________ Whatever your hands find to do, do it with all your might. (Fishing is one of those things ) |
