I have landed hundreds of kingfish from my kayak, including some very large specimens ...but never anything close to the size of this one.

I'm an opportunist and I experiment a lot to find what legal bait works best. I jigged up a lookdown and put him on for live bait while I worked on jigging up something else. I rigged him as gently as I could, and after I released him he swam off strong, so I hope he went back to doing his lookdown thing around the rig legs. I kind of cringed rigging him up - he would be an expensive purchase at the aquarium store, lol. |
