I have had a great time fishing with my brother-in-law Dave G. and hanging out with my sister-in-law and nieces this past week as they stayed with lifelong friends in Port Aransas.

We fished hard, early and late around work schedules in the surf using topwaters. The best bites were early in the trip in the evening though it wasn't exactly hot. We would get one or two out behind Cinnamon Shore. The best was caught by Dave G., a fat 3.25lb 22 inch fish. The groundswell literally beat us up about every day but we would eke out one or two.

As the week wore on and the surf calmed down what had been a slow bite just about disappeared for us. Dave G. got a little male keeper yesterday and that was it.

We ran into Rick Sanders who has been slaying the 20 inch plus trout on croaker and he was even having a hard time with little legal fish he was tossing back. Then about 9:30 to 10:30 yesterday morning he and his grandson finally got some nice trout - four from 21 to 24 inches. Pics later when Tinypics recovers.
