| 3,000.00 later the shop called and said hey, your motor is ready and you can pick up your boat anytime. picked it up brought it back to our shop and it would not start. took it right back and mechanic said a bearing is froze up in the power head. this is after all new steering, all new fuel line, carbs totally redone, new lower unit oil and water and fuel pump replaced. they even charged me for a new fuel fill and drain plugs (there were six new ones in the console) . they said they ran it for 20 minutes and it was running great. come and get it they said. so, if anyone knows where I can get a good used power head, it would help me out a lot. thanks all. |

Unfortunately, this sounds similar to my recent boat motor experiences...
Curious where you went? |

| Coastal marine in Rockport. They were suppose to call me when they were going to run it but they never did. They took it to little bay and ran it for 20 minutes even after I told them I would pay 2 extra hours to run it down the ditch to make sure it was running as designed. Im not talking bad about them I just wish they would have called me. I can't seem to find a powerhead for this motor. |

ugh....I'm betting it's the same issue that I had with my Tohatsu/Nissan; the oil injection gear failed...
it can be fixed if it hasn't taken the cylinders with it yet...do a compression check on it and see where the cylinders are, then get back to us...

| Thanks, I'll call Portland and see what he has to say. They told me a new power head is in the 6000.00 range. I would have never spent the money on the repairs if I had known about the powerhead. Not on this boat anyway |

I think the next person I would be talking to would be an attorney.
$3000 for a screwed up repair job it totally out of line.
Personally after making such a request, I would not have paid them until they demonstrated it was running in their test tank. _________________ Willee 361-563-1303 |
