Got my latest toy outfitted, so if you run across a White 2000 Jeep Wrangler, stop by and say "Hi".
1,000 Thanks to SandBar Signs. Sean will take good care of you if you need graphic work done.
[Sidebar] Tyler, it's a 4-Banger. Any tricks on traversing the JFK in a stiff headwind? My other Jeep is a 6 cylinder, and the difference is not too noticeable until I hit the Bridge in the afternoon! |

Ha Ha headed back to town you can hit 65 with the wind at your back! Ours has 33 inch tires so it gets 10mpg too. Do you have large tires on it? _________________ Like Corpusfishing.com on Facebook! |

Yea, and 10 mpg sounds about right.
But hey, I'm happy with it and pulled this huge Chevy truck out of Access Rd. 3 the other day. Guy tried to give me some cash for my troubles, but I just shook his hand and told him to "Have a nice afternoon"! |

CS, does it it use a belt driven fan, or electrical? I had a 1998 Nissan Frontier 4x4 for 10 years. Great little truck, but it too was a four banger, and got very poor milage at freeway speeds or in a headwind..... because the pedal was to the floor!
I tried headers and a Flowmaster muffler, and that didn't make a noticeable difference. Getting rid of the belt driven fan and going electric made a BIG difference !!! My highway mpg went from about 17-18 to 21-23, depending on the wind strength and direction and time of year.
Some people poo poo electruc fans, but that's nonsensical, because most vehicles use them nowadays. I always kept a spare in line fuse just in case, and only ever needed it once. _________________ Dave

I'm pretty sure it's belt driven, but I will check.
Thanks for the tip. |

Some people say it doesn't help that much, but the fewer cylinders you have (less torque and HP) the bigger the difference it makes.
On V10 monster, the difference may not be noticeable, but would still register on a dynamometer. 4 cylinders? You can bet your sweep bippy!!
I know that when I here someone start a truck with a big V8, the clutch driven fan (what a joke) that is supposed to free wheel (until a certain temperature is reached) sounds like a freaking crop duster idling...... and that is with the fan UNLOCKED !!!!!!! _________________ Dave
