The online fishing forecasts predict major and minor feeding times.

How good are they?
Do any of you follow their recommendation for days and times for best fishing here in and around Corpus Christi?

if they line up with the moon phase (overhead and under feet) then they're dead on...

I only fish when i see 3 stars or better on the date... However, some of the calendars show fish. In that case, I'll roll with 2.5 fish or better.

Barometer is my forecast. Today the moon was overhead. I never look at forecasts. I just get a line in the water.

If you could find a forecast that will tell you the barometer is going to be 29.91 and steady or 31.01 and rising. That's the one I'd use. Other wise the moon repeats it's phases. Which is, well predictable.

Any forecast in 'print' is typically weeks to months old (or rather forecasted weeks to months ago), and as such, i.e., my opinion - worthless! DRD can't nail down the wind speed and pressure 3 days out, and these magazines want me to think that they can forecast conditions months away?!?! Rolling Eyes

Think of all the times the tides are WAY higher or WAY lower than expected, and the message boards light up with "Hey, what with the ______ [fill in the anomaly here].

I say, use them for 'entertainment purposes' only.

Definitely agree on fishing the moon phase. More specifically, the blue moon. After all..."once in a blue moon" the fishing will be absolutely the best fishing you have ever experienced!!! Laughing

That's absolutely correct. Moon phase. I'd rather fish a new or crescent moon over a full moon anytime. I have a Moon phase app on my phone. I also have a barometer in 3 rooms and one in the shop. Very Happy

Yes and in the surf it depends more on the tide and the wind. In general I go when I can and don't want any negative no star or no fish forecast day to mess with my head it is already troubled Smile

Yep.. on any given sunday you can find areas to catch fish.

Moon is good for sure and I've found a high correlation with Solunar Tables especially if you are fishing closer to tidal passes. Further away from them there might be some delay do to tide difference. But I definitely use it as a tool. The barometer is definitely a big factor and so is winds.. both cause water to move or stop moving.

On days with week fishing forecast you have to find where you can find moving water and that may be pinches, wind driven current, or both. And it's probably going to happen with moon on horizon or underfoot.

I must be the poorest, or worst, or unluckiest (you chose one) ever.
Last year Bluff shoreline, Pita island, and south were great places to fish with good results every time I went.
This year I am getting skunked a lot.
Three trips to Baffin Bay and no fish!
Nighthawk bay up and down with no fish.

Today fished South of Pita, Flour Bluff shoreline, Boat hole with no keepers.

I am thinking someone must have hidden a banana in my boat somewhere.

Look under your motor cowling!!!! Shocked Laughing

With fishing and deer hunting, I go when I can get away and then look at the fish and game forecast after the fact, just to see if there's any correlation.

try going when the tide is moving . moon light helps i think. I used to fish high/low tides at packey south jetty between 1am and 5pm. most of the time we would limit out on reds in minutes(except during winter). . havent done that since 2011 though but i imagine it to still be the same pattern.

They are great when you catch fish! Very Happy I'm like some others, the new moon period is my favorite, and although I reference the forecasts they are just used for comparison sake. What is going on with the weather can offset most forecast.
