| Start by saying i love fishing. Been surfing FB fishing pages this morning with lots of picks of big sharks and hudge gator gar hanging upside down. It kind of makes me sad thinking of this magnificent animals that is no more. Please do not get me wrong like i said i love fishing and have no problems with taking fish legally. I also watched the video of the crazies harassing the guys fishing in Florida. Made me think if i feel sad about the loss of huge fish how much more it must effect the tree huggers. In today's political climate where a hand full of people can change previous acceptable standars and practices how long before we will not be able to go wet a line. |

I hear ya. My heart always sinks when I see pictures of big ol sow trout on a nail. Let them big girls go. And why red "slot" but no trout? Anyone?
There is so much conservation I don't think any of us will see a complete ban on fishing.
On a side note. What we may see is a total closure of PINs after someone driving 45mph past a camp hits someone kid or something.
PS. FB is the devil. LoL |

I feel the same about that...gars they are survivors- just a badass fish.
I think most sportsman fall in the conservation crowd -respectful use and common sense approach of the natural world and fish and game.
The environmental view (from my observation) is that all living beings that can feel pain should have equal rights to that of a human. The enivronmentalists are aligning with PETA and their view of sentient beings and that is self explanatory. I wouldnt put anything past PETA.
To the redfish question the slot size was a dynamic part of the management plan in respinse to the red drum decline in the 70s. Here is a good link to give a great overview on the redfish recovery.

There is a slot limit for trout. It's 15-25". However, an angler may keep one over 25" per day as part of the overall bag limit of 5 or 10, depending on where one is fishing.
But I agree with you. Personally, the big girls get released if possible |

I let the the big girls go any girl 24 and over goes back. But for everyone I release 4 or 5 go on the stringer. I like to see big sharks released and I would guess most are tagged and let go . There are plenty of sportsmen out there. _________________ I LIKE MINE FRIED. |

ANY trout past 19" or 20" is a female, so the 25 inch 'slot' is strictly a 'Lady Slot'. Still not a bad thing, but the numbers of trout out there are such that the males are spent, and not looking for a date once they reach maturity. |

A buddy of mine caught a 23 inch male trout one year near the ski canals. We had it frozen in Billy Sandifer's freezer to give to Dr. Mckee to have the otoliths aged but somehow it disappeared. _________________ Like Corpusfishing.com on Facebook! |

so what's worse, keeping a stringer full of 18-20 inch trout that never have the potential to reach 30", or keeping 1 or 2 30+ inch trout every once in a while?
I don't keep anything personally over 25" but if one of the kids gets a big fish the first thing they want to do is bring it home and show mom, paw-paw, the neighbors, etc. |

| I have caught a couple of big girls that I kept, but I will no longer do so. I have no problem with legally keeping one over 25", but the truth is IMHO the big girls just don't measure up to the smaller ones for taste. |

Let the kids keep the big ones to show they will make up their own minds when they are older. It's perfectly legal to keep the big ones. It's a how you personally feel. That's how I see it. Some folks kill em all. That up to them. _________________ I LIKE MINE FRIED. |
