I clicked the Sticky on Sargassum and it says none reported, but Matt at the pier said there was some weeds on the 15th.
Headed down for a full week of fishing 20-27. 7 days fishing! Can't wait!
Just wondering how bad the sargassum is at this point on a scale of 1-10?
I'd drive down to take a look myself, but I live in DFW area.
Any report would get my juices flowing even more! I can't wait to punch the clock Friday and hit the road for the Island! _________________ I now believe that fishing is more important than catching. |

I was down to almost the 13 mile marker on the national seashore on Saturday. The weed in the wade gut was a little thick in some spots. We found a spot with less weed and it seemed that past the first bar was a lot less and past teh second was almost none.
A whole week of fishing... That must be so sweet.... |

| Beach to Bay this weekend. Lookout for traffic and road closures, plus heavy winds for the forecast... Tough weekend down here. |

I appreciate all the info and I really love this forum. I am part of a couple of fresh water forums here in DFW that are great as well. Real people helping out others! Thanks CCF members. I only get down to the coast every other year or so, and the posts on this forum always help me come up with a great game plan ahead of time so I can maximize my time on the water! For me personally, both of those views, while excellent, are a bit misleading. The beach is maintained at both, so you don't really get a feel for the 'floating brown plant material' washing in.
I prefer either the PINS camera http://www.corpusfishing.com/messageboard/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=26478
Or the Seagull Condo Beachcam http://surfcam.seagullcondos.com/nph-jpeg.cgi?0
Both are stickys on the main CF page, too!
The PINS cam seems to get cleaned more often, as the Whitecap view and the Seagull Condo view tend to get covered in salt spray and rain more often. But both give you a better idea what to expect in terms of conditions.
And welcome to the board, and have a safe trip down to PINS. |
