well, as I was under my truck yesterday taking a look, I noticed a few drops of tranny fluid here and there....no Bueno...not sure where it's coming from...

reaching out to the CF brain-trust for a recommendation on where to take my 2000 Chevy Silverado to get someone to take a look at it....thanks in advance...

I was satisfied with Dub's when I got a transmission leak last year (Ford F 150). They had it ready the next day and price wasn't outrageous. Good luck.

If it's just a seal, that's one thing (hopefully easier = < $$$).
But for ANY tranny issues, it's Great State for me.

Good luck! As you know I have had the worst luck ever with trannys. 2 in suburban, 1 in jeep, one on Acura and one in the Trooper. 5 trannys since 2004!

rear seal could be leaking, which is a really easy fix. if it's leaking between the motor and transmission, that's not too bad, but they have to yank the transmission back from the motor. could be the pan gasket (probably not because that's the cheapest).

a buddy of mine owns pro automotive on wooldridge. I can't promise it will be the cheapest, but he's a very honest person, and it will be done correctly.

Could it be just a loose connection on the line? I had that happen on the Jeep once after I replaced the transmission and the motor. ;(

My Bluff mechanic David Prosek used to tell me that back seal will leak at least on my old Suburban if you don't engage the four wheel drive often enough.

It's never a gasket for me, well once it was valve cover gasket on a cheve 396. As far as transmissions I have had good luck never lost one or had to have one rebuilt or changed. knock on wood, knock on wood. Probably jinx myself on that one. Sad

Having rebuilt every automatic transmission I've had. My luck isn't to good either. However I did have a 4L60E resealed and it lasted another 100k. Depending on mileage and your intention to keep it, rebuilding before failure is cheaper. Standard rebuilds now days all get shift kits and other little upgrades that make them better than factory.
I've had Saul at Coastal transmission rebuild two for me and neither has had a problem. Also there is only one transmission part supplier in
CC next door to the the above reference. Knowing part cost and then comparing labor rates will be eye opening.

I have an F-250 diesel 4x4 year model 2000 with well over 200 thousand miles on it that has been down the island many times as well as working the Billy Sandifer clean ups many times and have had no tranny problems. The only difference between my truck is that it is a standard shift! I also replaced the oil to synthetic oil and it is still going down the road.
