Currently the wind at my place is 3-4mph with partly cloudy skies looks like a spectacular sunrise is about to happen as there are a lot of colors in the eastern sky. The barometer is at 29.89 the temp is 71 degs with maximum early morning humidity. Winds at the surf are at 13 mph. The forecast is calling for gustier winds today that's why I'm doing this instead of launching the girl this morning. However yesterday I did go out for a brief trip in the morning on a whim which is not like me at all but my buddy said I got the fuel, ice , and tacos, which makes me happy, so I was dressed and ready in 5 minutes. It was a little blustery and chilly but the winds laid and the sun popped out and all was good. I had to come back early to do some things with my wife but we got 3 reds and 3 trout before 10am. We each lost a red at the boat also. We caught all of our fish in 2ft of water. I was using my go to lure and my buddy was using gulps the catch was 50/50 one didn't out do the other. As we headed back in there were a few boats drifting the edge of the ICW for flounder. I wanted to drift it but I had plans so i just kept my eyes forward pretending not to see others fishing. All in all it was a fun morning and we left them biting. All I have is a cooler shot of the fish instead of my usual table shot. Cheers IMS.

| I just finished reading your post, and was wondering what is your go to lure? I need all the help I can get. |

| Nice catch. We went out today, but only caught a few small keeper trout. Fishing has been slow for me lately. I did catch a 25" trout on a DOA shrimp about a week ago in the packery. |

Yes Zia is correct. My go to all time favorite is the Norton Bull Minnow in a pumpkin seed with a chartreuse paddle tail it's a good tough lure and the piggy perch have a hard time biting off the tail. If the fish are on the feed they will hit it. I also use a 1/8th ounce jig head, I prefer the squeeze points over the screw locks but that's a personal choice. I have a couple of other colors in my box , tequila gold, chicken on a chain, and white or pearl, when the water gets cold i will switch to plum/chartreuse in both sand eel or bull minnow both with a paddle tail and if it's reelly cold and I'm going deep I may switch to a 1/4 oz jig head. I also use 8lb stren line and a 14-17 lb fluorocarbon shock leader with no snaps or swivels, just good knots, like the double surgeons knot and a loop knot on my jig head. Aside from that I hope everyone has a good time at work today. _________________ I LIKE MINE FRIED. |
