|
I am looking for anyone who uses something like this to communicate while on the beach. I would like them to be waterproof if possible with a good range on them. My wife is looking for a way that she could communicate with me if we go separately down PINS or say she left early or came later than me in the event she has troubles. She says this will get her fishing with me more often so i will do just about anything to make this happen. Let me know if you have any suggestions and approximate ranges. Thanks! _________________ Great captains, the stuff of legend, are made not by what they have caught, but by what they have given back. |

| I put a CB in my truck just for PINS. I know it's old school and hardly anyone has one anymore, but me and my buddies use it. Really like it for caravaning down PINS |

That's an idea....what is the range that you typically get on the beach? _________________ Great captains, the stuff of legend, are made not by what they have caught, but by what they have given back. |

| I didn't get real far, I think my buddies attena wasn't transmitting good, but if the attenas are tuned correct, you should be able to get around maybe 15 miles on a good day. And keep in mind the beach curves, so I'd hope for a little farther drive distance |

Many years ago, I did have my no-code license. But was never really into it. So my license expired. |

All licenses are no-code now. I even think you can get your license back with no test. Check it out. Of course your wife would need to get licensed too. _________________ Gary J

Didn't know that.
I remember trying to upgrade to my code, missed it by like two letters and one question.
I'll have to look into renewing my license. |

I have a set of cobra 1000 two way radios that reach from Yarborough pass to bird island boat ramp.
We just leave them on and hit the call button and the radio has a loud ringer |

| Have you considered a Standard Horizon Marine Radio? Not only can you keep in contact, but you have immediate access to Coast Guard and Weather if you need them. Mine is water resistant and has great distance even though portable. |

You know i haven't looked into this. I will start researching it. If not i will probably look into getting some of the waterproof walkies with the longest range i can find.
I appreciate the input. _________________ Great captains, the stuff of legend, are made not by what they have caught, but by what they have given back. |

Does one tire in the water qualify? One leg? Just kidding!
I know the FCC designates various frequencies for uses by radio owners, and are serious about it. Can a marina use a marine frequency, even though they are technically "not on the water" ?
