All you bluffians out there.

in the last few weeks, several people have been bumping around the idea of getting an area citizens action group together. This will basically provide a bigger voice to city council, the police department... our state rep, etc. When you have a concern, chances are someone else does also.

we have the support of more than one city council rep right now. according to them, this is a very good idea as It helps us, and it helps them as well being able to come to a meeting and listen to an entire group all at once.

the only criteria to join is that you either need to be a resident in the bluff, own property, or have a business here. There might be a small membership fee, but it has not yet been decided. If there is a fee, It would only be to cover printing flyers, renting a facility for meetings, buying snacks for meetings, etc. very small... $10-$15 annual.

the island has a political action committee, and it's quite well respected, and they have a good voice to different city issues. Since the Bluff actually has several thousand more registered voters, and a higher voter turnout, there's no reason why ours couldn't be as successful. This is definitely not an "us versus them" when it comes to the island. The island has their voice, and their needs and concerns, and we have ours.

a board of directors has not yet been elected. This is why if you're interested in coming, We are having a steering committee meeting on August 15 at 5.45 PM, at the Janice Hart Library. Get involved from the start! I think the max people we can have is around 50 or 55 due to the size of the meeting room. We will schedule a general meeting soon though, hopefully at the first part of September.

absolutely. I hope you guys can make it. I need to clarify some meeting times though. I was confused a little.

The meeting for the Steering committee is August 15th at 5:45 at the Janice Hart Library. Room is limited to about 55 people... I'm really not sure how many will come.

There is a town hall meeting at the Ethyl Eyerly center. Same night that Blake Farenthold is speaking there. August 22, starting at 6 PM. We will have some information, and be able to talk to folks who are looking to get involved in the group.

I know several people have put their name in the hat so to speak for board of directors, but what I'm hoping for is we can have a good pool for selection. Come to that steering meeting on the 15th if you can, Stan. I'm on the steering committee, but I don't think I want to be on the board of directors. Like anything else, it's a time commitment, and working two jobs right now, time is sometims rare for me.

I love this ideal! I think about the possibility of such a group every time I drive
down a street around Flourbluff, especially Laguna Shores! Needless to say it's on my mind constantly! I can't make the proposed meeting, but will be active when I'm available.

Can't make it (FB Varsity VBall tonight at Carroll - Shout out to ziacatcher for yet another stellar performance at SpikeFest this past weekend), but keep us all informed. I like the idea.

Things can more forward in a positive manner. I contacted the FB Council Rep about the horses and all of the "feces" left on the beach, and she got the new City Manager to look into it. Now, there is a chase vehicle that follows the riders and plays "poop scooper" daily!!!!
