I only brought 1 lure on the kayak to fish for one whole day, the norton sand shad jr. Been looking for a good soft plastic because many of them haven't suited my fancy. Saw the norton sand shad jr in a store and it looked like something I wanted to try.

Only bringing one lure for a whole day is a great way to learn a lure because if you bring your confidence baits you're always tempted to throw them on first and never end up trying anything new.

What is your favorite soft plastic?

Doubled tailed wack-a-doodle in slimetruse with a 1/8th oz jig head. 3.5 to 4inch work great for Reds and Trout.

PUMPKINSEED chart. paddle tail. Holds up a long time . My all time favorite and it has put alot of fish on my cleaning table and will soon be doing it again.

No just kidding but it sounded good. Very Happy My go to all day all time is the bull minnow paddle tail in pumpkinseed chartreuse . A very tough plastic lure. Maybe we get together sometime and cast a few.
I like your sense of humor. And it looks like you have no problem getting up early.

How's the action on a slow retrieve?

Definitely a good way to up your confidence with a lure. Bring it, and fish it.

nice work.

Norton makes a good bait.

I'll play along...

Bass Assassin brings home the bacon... 5 inch Shad Assassin or 4 inch Sea Shad. Screw lock jig heads help a lot with theses baits.

Try the Hogie line available at HEB. 3.5 inch Swimming Shad, Major Minnow, and Swimming Jack Shrimp. If you want to test your skills try their old school shrimp tail tout - Super Jack Shrimp Tail. I like Hogies way more than Norton.

Curly tail grubs catch fish. Anyone remember Mr. Wiffels? They were flounder killers.

Marching down the aisle, a new comer, Down South, makes a good bait. The small paddle gives it something special and Down South adds a scent.

Anything Norton lasts a long time. I like the sand eels but I've also used the sand shads and the bull minnows. Tequila or pumpkin seed work the best for me. Pink sand shad has been putting slime on my boat lately

My "go to" soft plastic has always been Bass assassin's NIGHT SHINER color in the 4" with the flat tail strung on a HIGH TIDE brand jighead the lightest you can fish for the wind/current. Off Bob Hall Pier nothing beats a 1 oz silver Mannolure for everything that swims, from whiting to tarpon.
