and it's not to look at seagulls. I guess our water issues finally got enough attention nationally to get her interested.
I have to admit I stole this next one from a buddy....
Will everyone in Corpus realize that it's NOT julia roberts from pretty woman when she gets here? |

Somehow I doubt the City Manager bowed out due to his great concern for the water issues!!
Me thinks it was more likely he was shown the door, with a face-saving "I'm just taking responsibility for the problem"....... |

He tried to get out last year, and was interviewing in New Mexico of nevada for city manager positions. I think he was looking for a way out.
I'm disappointed he quit. I would have rather seen him put a boot up someone's supple bum that was responsible for the mistake this time.... but they want to blame the system as a whole, which goes back SOoooo far, and is really no one's fault. |

Agreed.
Bad part is, the excuse they gave this time was nitrogen rich run-off from rains awhile ago, "seeping" into the water system. Well, with the 13+ inches we just got, it looks like the 'boil notice' is about to be a permanent part of living in the Bluff!
I need to buy some stock in Ozarka. |

The word is that Olsen kept trying to fix things but was constantly denied only to be given the blame when those things went wrong. He tried to make a positive difference for CC, but the Mayor and city council constantly fought him on every issue. I heard there was quite the yelling match at the last meeting and that Olsen walked out. Our city council cares about one thing and that is development. The problem is our existing infrastructure isn't suited for what we already have, let alone what they hope to bring here. Unfortunately, CC residents are not known for having a high voter turnout rate. Stan's retired now. Maybe we can vote him on the council _________________ "Ya'll must eat a lot of fish" |

TD, I think 18 months ago the council very much was about developers. If you look at some of the new people that came on, they're not. I think this is why you see the caller times constantly trying to point out the "divide" in city council.
the old guard is changing, and people don't like it. The caller times was part of, and supported that long standing old guard in this city that has enabled a select few to stay in control. |

I sure hope you're right. We needed an overhaul. _________________ "Ya'll must eat a lot of fish" |

There are a lot of issues in the city. I think the mayor should have made infrastructure a bigger priority instead of the same old pet projects.
On the other hand, I've also seen the staff (ron Olsen, and his operation teams) constantly asking for more money (equaling more taxes) as the ONLY solution to the problem. you rarely see ingenuity, you rarely see accountability. You see a group of people usually doing things the same way they've always done them, and when the money runs out, they go scream for more.
you guys should try to go to the planCC 2035 meeting tonight. if you haven't, please read up on this. IMO, it's very shortsighted, and idealistic to say the least. |

How does anything seep into a closed pressurized system? They're using their final defense today. Blame the contractors!
Any way you cut it,the bottom line is more money out of your pocket.
Erin Brockovich? Yeah, that's the ticket. Throw another lawyer in the mix. |
