After blowing all day Friday, and all night, Saturday turned out to be beautiful. Called Z to go fishing but he had a long list of honey does. Got a call later in the morning, it was Z, and he had gotten a pardon and was ready to fish.

Things began slow. No wind, just hot and humid, and no fish. East, west, and south nothing. I did manage to catch the smallest trout of the day and the first fish. That's the only bragging rights for me this day. We moved back to the backyard and the wind started coming up. Don't know if Z picked this up in New Mexico, or where, but he caught a trout and did a "trout dance". It was an epic moment. Z was now on his game. He got his limit while I played with the dinks (I did manage a couple of boxers).

Z can flat out fish. More importantly he is fun to fish with. If you're lucky he will give you an education. Not just about fishing, but the area, the people, the Laguna Madre. He's got great stories to tell. He can be very funny. Bottom line he is a great fishing partner.

Thanks for spending the day with me, Z.

I met Zia last year about this time out on the Fish Pass Jetty. Did not know it was him at the time, but I could tell he was very knowledgeable. I hope to run into him again out surf fishing and pick his brain some more. Thanks to all the anglers that contribute here. I learn a lot on this site.

Thanks for the invite yesterday Scott. I had a great time and your words are very kind, although maybe a bit exagerrated. Lol. Love to do it again sometime. BTW, Mary made me fish again today. Separate post,
