Went out this morning to relax from daily reffing of volleyball. Drifted from. Pita almost to the shoreline with only a couple dink trout. Began working shorelines and it paid off. I got slammed. First came this red that had 8 spots.

Then a flounder, a couple more reds, and finally a trout.

I decided to try for a grand slam and went looking for drum south of Pita, where I saw a school the other day. No luck. However, what I did find was very brown water. So much so that I could hardly see my drift sock behind me.

I released all fish except the flounder which was stuffed with shrimp stuffing and topped with a lemon wine sauce.

I keep hearing about this 'so-called' Volleyball reffing business, but I have yet to see the mythical Zia at a Bluff game this year!?!?! What gives? (We got stuck with one of my absolute least favorite Head Refs the other night - I won't say where as not to incriminate anyone [but having been a longtime baseball and kickball Umpire, I have earned the right to criticize poor officiating Wink ]).

Bring on the Zia, I say!!!

Oh yea, I nearly forgot, with this being a fishing forum and all that -
Nice Slam, and an even nicer CPR on the non-flounders!

Hey, CS, don't know why. Only Bluff matches I've had this year were middle school. I'm excited about next week. I will be calling 3 matches at the TAPPS state tourney in San Antonio.

Back to fishing, today I found a 24" red and 4 17"-18" trout along Laguna Shores this morning

Well good for you! If they choose refs according to their past performance for the State level tournaments, then they have made an EXCELLENT choice! Plus he's a decent fisherman too!!!!! Laughing

It was. To go with it we had grilled yellow squash and baked potato with creamed cremini mushrooms.
