Finally got the opportunity to get offshore yesterday, beautiful conditions and the tide dropped just enough to let the Cat Sass get under the Laguna shores bridge (i'm talking one inch of clearance) . My wife Pat and i decided to fish the in close rigs just north of Packery , stopped on the way to throw spec rigs at the schools of spanish mackerel and bonito working just out side the jetties . Pat boated two nice bonito and i caught a nice king on a big rattle trap. Once we were at our rig of choice we set out ribbon fish and started bottom fishing which produced lots of small snapper, the ribbon fish got us a limit of cobia and another kingfish. The cobia ranged from 39 inches to 44 inches. All in all we had an awesome day
