Tyler's LTTE made it into the Caller-Times a little edited, I see. "Aginners" replaced "againers," among other things. The message is still clearly what matters, though. Good show, Tyler.

A private beach
It is funny how those who don't stand to profit in this are blamed as "aginners."
We at Beach Access Coalition are not against development; we are just against making the general public jump through hoops to gain access to public property their tax dollars helped to fund.
Let's hope the general public sees this for what it is, a land grab by a few to make a few dollars for a select group of the population. If this really were about a pedestrian-safe environment, those pushing this would only have to go to Mustang Island State Park or the 4.5 miles of pedestrian-only beach at the Malaquite Visitors Center at the Padre Island National Seashore.
That facility is under-utilized and even on the busiest holiday weekends, if you walked about 200 yards from the entrance, you would see it is so empty you could shoot off a shotgun and not hit anybody. Why? Because of ice chest segregation, that is as far as anyone can walk with all of their gear to enjoy a day at the beach. That is what the developer's want - a quasi-private beach.
Restricting access by the locals and those not paying to stay in the resort is immoral and no dollar signs in the eyes of a few who stand to profit from it make it right.

How true Tyler.
Maybe someone could start a high paying business out of carrying ice chests on the beach, from the parking lots to the jetty. _________________ paulj4400 |

I for one will be ready with the assistance of my wife to push my pier wagon down until we are in front of those rich people having breakfast at the restaruant. Then I will put my thong on, my t-shirt, minus the sleeves and cut in half to make sure the thong is exposed and spend a day chumming for sharks in the wade cut. I guess this will mean I have to spread my pole holders to cover about 100 yards of beach. I think they would rather watch out for cars on the beach than sharks in the water. I think this will become a sunday morning tradition. For those who know me, you know me and a thong can make the best breakfast a chef can cook come back up with one look. I would like to place bets now that I would be escorted off the beach by resort security, or at least attempted to be escorted off. _________________ Mastergunner, supporter of hardheads for state fish of Texas |

mastergunner, I'll be there with ya!
the shirts need to be those mesh ones, so we can show off our backhair.
we also need to bring one of those 500 watt postable boom boxes with us and blast some good ole Bocefus drinking and fighting music!
Don't forget the volleyball net! They are gonna love seeing our spare tires bouncing up and down wearing those thongs and mesh tank tops!
I figure if we get 10 people with 5 poles a piece, spread out at 30 foot a pop, we can cover the entire stretch from the wall to Packery, and really mess up their private swimming hole!
One think I bet Schexnailder did plan on is how much all that sargassum that is building up on the south jetty right now is gonna stink soon as it begins to rot. You know that smell if you have ever been on the South Port A jetty or the beach next to it in mid-may. Gut twisting, gag inducing, vile smelling stuff. Imagine walking out on the balcony of your $250k 1 bedroom condo overlooking the beach to smell that! _________________ GOBZA!!!

| yeah, the so. jetty at Port A is a real mudhole lookin' mess during weed time. they try to keep it scraped off with front-end loaders, but the surf is choked full due to the jetty blocking the current.has anyone seen the beach south of Packery lately? I would bet it's not pretty. photos of that stretch of beach and at PA near the so. jetty could be used to yall's advantage. just my .02. Kurt. |

big john, you can bet if this beach closure goes through I will become an eye sore. I also can't beleive they think 30 handicap parking places by the jetty is going to work. First, they will always be used by whoever gets there first. People park in them at HEB and Wal mart who are not authorized to just to keep from walking 20 extra feet. Why does the council think people want park in them to save them 1800 feet???? So being a 70% disabled vet when I get to the parking lot and it is full am I supposed to go back home and be denied access to the beach and jetty?? I'm beginning to think this beach closure may not be such a bad thing for me, I feel my rights starting to be denied because I am a disabled veteran. Ummm, Mastergunner Beach has a nice ring to it _________________ Mastergunner, supporter of hardheads for state fish of Texas |

Two thoughts based on the thread so far.
Of course, since it's a public beach, the City of CC will continue to pay, with TIF funds until they run out, to clean the sargassum off the 7200 feet of pedestrian beach. Ever wonder where they'll put the weed and the sand that comes with it so they won't be piled right in front of the resort? Any suggestions? Since it'll be done with tax dollars, the dump must be close by.
It won't be necessary to put poles out, parade in thongs and chum the whole length of the area closed to vehicles. As the Shexlickers demonstrated at the Courthouse yesterday, the people running the resort will try to claim the choicest spots (those farthest from the public parking lots) for the paying guests by building dunes walkovers from the resort to reach them and by staking them out with sun shades. Key in on these landmarks. _________________ The Trash Heap Has Spoken!

If I walk up to an empty umbrellia on a "public beach" I must assume someone left it for me to use. If the choice spots are taken with items of this nature I may be big but I think I can squeeze in, just rub some suntan oil on me and that should do the trick. _________________ Mastergunner, supporter of hardheads for state fish of Texas |

Stuff like this can be considered a legitimate form of protest.
Outlandish behaviour can draw media attention. The media likes to focus on wierd stuff, it boosts ratings. A good way to get more exposure (pun intended) to the cause.
A bunch of guys wearing 2 piece bathing suits or t-backs playing volleyball would be 'special'.
Just be sure to wear sunscreen. You won't want to have those tan lines later on. Oh, and post the date here, I'm in.
I'll have to ask my wife to save that old bathing suit she was going to throw out. heheh
