|
|
Got a 99 Mustang (with many miles on it!!) that had the transmission crap out. Got a estimate and they said that the radiator fluid had fouled the transmission fluid and it needs to be rebuilt. The quote I got seemed a bit high, and was wondering if anyone has a good tranny mechanic shop that they would recommend. I am looking for a second opinion.
Thanks, CS |

| Great State did a good job for me, no suprises, everything went just like Don said it would. Although Tyler was absolutely right, they are all expensive. Mine was about $1600.00 which included a new torque converter. Greate State and Ace have always had above average transmission repair reputations. Best of luck! ........cC |

Wow! I had one on an Acura that was over 2 grand. One on Trooper at about 1800, one on Suburban at 1700 and yes still another one on my Jeep around 1350. Man I have had bad luck on tranny's and I drive like a grandma, never speed or do any stupid stuff. Then again the Trooper and Suburban had to run through Big Shell at times lugging through there and that never does a tranny any favors. _________________ Like Corpusfishing.com on Facebook! |

knock on wood I have never had a trans go bad. I replaced clutches and flywheels on standards and slave valves. Never an automatic. _________________ I LIKE MINE FRIED. |

Thanks for all the replies.
As luck would have it, Great State was my first choice, seeings how they have taken care of me over the years (one time they sent me on my way for no charge after the inspection and said "it ain't a tranny problem", turned out to be bad spark plug wires). Had a chance to rake me over the coals, but they were honest!!
The estimate I got from Ace was right in line with Great State, so I told Great State, "go ahead and Make it So'. Still more than I wanted to spend, but eh, it's the kids car and he needs it for Del Mar, "What are you going to do".
Because we all know that money grows on trees, right. And it rained today, so I should have a new crop of $$$$ sprouting any minute now!!! |
