Ok the holiday has barely begun and my son decides to do a solo mid day trip in the back yard he tells me he's been working one area pretty good and spots a boat a ways off and gives the guy time to do whatever he needs to do. The guy keeps idling around so my son sets up his next drift and this wonderful person motors up to my son and begins cussing my son for cutting off his drift. My son tells him he watched him motoring around (clueless) so he went ahead set up a drift after more harsh word towards my son and taking pictures of my TX numbers (the kid was in my boat) the irritating supple bum idled off just the way he approached. Jay had enough of that BS and called it a day when he told me about it i decided to go out and see if this guy was still in the area, so me and the wife go for a boat ride . Not far from where my son said the the guys were i see the white and maroon skeeter with the Mercury on back with two older men in both wearing blue fishing shirts and matching straw hats next to a channel i pass them up as i realize these are the two jerks. As i turn around to go back to ask them what my son had done to warrant that kind of response ,they pull up there drift sock and haul butt as they see me approaching . I pull up next to this guy and he refuses to look my way accelerating so i start yelling that i want to talk his passenger acknowledged my presence but the boat driver wouldn't look at me so i flanked him all the way to pita island . Two old bad asses harassing one young guy but when an adult want to talk to you, you turn tail and run those kind of spineless winners get eaten by red fish in my back yard .Run my TX numbers come on by the house i'm still willing to talk. Try and enjoy the holiday every body be safe and watch out for skeeters Shocked

must be people who roll in skeeters... there's a yellow and white one with a T top that fishes down south that has a throat punch coming to them for severe potlicking habits.

A-holes will be A-holes. I was doing good right up til they screwed with my chi. haha. Still got to clean some fish finally so it's all good. Maybe they'll take the bass boat back inland after that little chase. Smile

I went out with my friend in his boat today. He wants to learn how to fish and where. He's never been beyond Pita island so we're going to head south. As we turned the corner I look south and I count 34 boats. You could not set up a drift without being cut off but then again that's a holiday weekend. I decided just to show him some spots and we fished a little bit just to try it. I got only one keeper trout and six dinks, an undersized red and a skipjack. But I did show him a lot of different waters in several different ways to fish.

Back of Baffin is good...Rivera Reef, Sandy Hook, Buzzards Roost,to name just a few spots. It's nice to fish the back half.

I bet if we all put our "fishing jerks" stories together we could have a really big book. REALLY BIG....

I got one for you. My dad and I set a few lines and were running them at midnight and daylight. We made our sets at sundown and then brush crashed on the edge of the lake to wait for 12. Sometime between 6 and 12 somebody cut one of our lines to pieces. We figure somebody got their bass plug caught on the line, pulled it up, and then proceeded to cut it up. It was too deep for a prop to cut it. And, it was a legal line, tag and all. If you get pi$$ed off and cut up somebody's legal line, you might be a jerk on the water.

This is one of many.
I was fishing on Friday and a guy comes running his boat by me fast and way to close so I am already giving him the look for his stupid stunt. Then as he passes by I notice he is running with his power pole all the way down and its bouncing like crazy Laughing
I quickly point my finger down to try to let him know but then he flips me the bird and nails it even faster as he slices a line across the bay with his power pole.
I'm sure it busted off after a while.

I love karma.

Sometimes Karma can be a lady. Probably 15 years ago a couple buddies and myself were slow trolling at the liberty ships reef offshore. We had outriggers deployed and 6 lines running. It was a weekday and we had the place to ourselves. Some yahoo comes flying toward us and passes maybe 50 feet behind us. Set off one long line and the port short line. I grabbed the knife and cut them both off. I hope he had fun digging 2-3 foot steel wire leaders out of his props.

I gestured to a guy in a go fast boat that I was drifting at an angle and he immediately changed direction and ran 15' off my bow and asked 'how that'? well, on one hand, he didn't cut my drift, On the other.. wow.

Sorry those jackwagons treated your son that way.

Yup, most everyone has had their drift cutoff, it seems the exception lately that someone changes course and goes behind you. But then again if you've run around much probably a good chance you may have 'accidently' done the same, I know I have, but I try to be considerate and aware what other boats are doing. More disturbing is the tower boat trend, running all around flats where others are fishing 'looking' for fish. And I have a phobia about fishing amongst a lot of traffic. With all that said, probably a bad idea making gestures that could turn into fishing 'road rage'. Myself, I'll just stop fishing and give the 'really dude?' look. And certainly don't let it ruin your day, or you may have a lot of ruined days. GL. D
