|
|
I realize it's summer , tons of people on the water and all but perhaps a little common courtesy , general wade fishing rules " amongist " some of us anyways ...
I do pratctise the 50 yard rule. Meaning I try not to come with in 50 yards of the next person fishing .
I do not " cut " right thru someone else's wade .
If I do have to pass some one, I go behind them, not in front of them .
I do not " bird dog "... Really uncool ...
What I've witnessed the last 2 weekends by So called fishermen really sucks ..
First I had a couple with all there gear and bait buckets pretty much just plow right thru my wade, killing the school I was on.., I just blew it off and just moved on .
Today I got 2 guys pretty much just walk up on me dragging a " barge "
Behind them ..cutting thru like a herd of cattle, not a clue of what they just did ..7 foot Rod and I could have tapped him on the shoulder ...
As Chris Berman says " come on man ! "
All I'm saying is maybe .. Pass the rules a long to others less educated..
It'll help everyone .. |

With extremely rare exception these days, you just described the disposition of the entire country -- its a fact of life anymore.
I blame Jerry Springer in that he glorified the trash in society. |

According to Merriam Webster, the word rude was first used in the 14th century. I'm almost positive the behavior goes back a few more years than the 1300's. If I'm wading with friends, then 25 to 50 is about right give or take. Otherwise, I look for another place with nobody there or somewhere around 200 to 400 yards away depending on the circumstances. My dad was always the first out of the boat and away he'd go. He'd be 100 yards away before you even got in the water. But, if he saw you hooking up he'd miraculously appear on your shoulder in no time. But that's family and OK at all times |

You're right about that, we're living in the "it's all about ME" times, from the President on down. Heck, kids have been brought up that way for at least the past 30 years, now the chickens are coming home to roost! _________________ Dave

Sounds like another typical ho-hum day around Rockport/Aransas Pass. Best time of year is when school starts and during deer season right before the Winter Lund Boat crowd starts arriving. _________________ Mike |

I'm not real sure but I think it says somewhere in the Bible that we have to put up with the idiots that come from inbreeding. Man was of perfect form when he was created but he didn't stay that way for long. _________________ I LIKE MINE FRIED. |

It seems as though the trend is sloping downhill at an ever increasing rate of change. I surely do miss how people were when I was a kid... |

Yup, seems the norm nowadays, especially on the weekends. Not a week goes by that our fishing community at work wont have an issue with uncourteous fisherman from potlicken to drift cutting or something. But I would like to point out there are still a lot of stand up fisherman out there. Few and far between but they are there. I was fishing with a guide in March when we stopped in the laguna. There was a guy near a shoreline he wanted us to fish. He waited to see which way he was head out of the boat before he made a decision where he wanted to anchor. After the guy went north, we wnt south. We ended up going 6-700 yards south of the one guy and he was still concerned that we were to close. Thats a great attitude from a guide in my book. _________________ You won't know if you don't go! |

| too bad courtesy wasn't in the vocabulary of a fisherman I encountered today. took my 8 year old grandson to my two minute honey hole and fifty yards in front of me a guy comes pulling in ,brand new Majek, shuts down starts pointing out things to his passenger then cranks up does a circle around me and heads on out. So much for my grandson catching fish at my two minute honey |

| I used to have a brother in law that would get right beside anyone that caught a fish. His name was Lonny so we say anyone that crowds in is Lonnzoing. But as was previously said with family or friends it's ok. |

did you say anything to them?
anytime someone does something rude around me, I let them know. usually it's not yelling, I just tell them... "getting that close might be ok where ever you're from, but around here, we don't do that. the next guy might not be so understanding as I am".

| Just yesterday as we were drifting in the Back Yard I explained to my daughter that the guy who came 100 to 150 yards in front of us in his straight shot into TI not only cut our drift but also that of the boat 400 yards behind us. And that if he had instead slightly altered his route and gone behind both boats rather than in front, he would have motored through water that we had already drifted through. |
