| My buddy and I want to find a place to wade that is protected from the stronger SE winds we have been having that has a good chance to produce trout. According to Ray Crawford's book, Airport Park on the east shore of Copano Bay might fit the bill. I need a firmer bottom to wade, as I have some heart issues I have to deal with, and struggling in the mud don't help with it as I found out recently in B&R flats. Has anyone fished the Airport Park Copano Bay shoreline? Is it a good firm bottom? If not there, is there anywhere else that you can recommend that is firm bottom and still wind protected? Thx. |

| I fish the area quite often and the bottom is mixed. Some spots will be pretty firm while other spots you may sink to around ankle deep. If you do fish this area use topwaters that has produced for me. |

And all of that depends on how heavy you are and how big your feet are  I wouldn't know anything about that personally

I look like a 6'6" two-legged moose stuck in a quagmire. And at my advanced age, don't have the balance I used to. My buddy got a good laugh when I waded Brown and Root flats a couple weeks ago. I may have to stick to the good old hard sand in the surf. |

That spot is popular and probably overfished....as are most of the areas around there...but if you wade out to the shell reef and throw up and down that area you will find firm footing. You can head down towards the long pier that sticks out from a house to the NE from the shell reef and still have some solid footing. Never mind the tale about the man eating alligator that inhabits that area. I have seen him or her many times in the last ten years and I still have all my toes and fingers.
You can also wade out at the old barge wreck at the stop sign on 1781 at the dead end where the road from the 35/Airport area runs into 1781. Someone told me that Aransas Pathways has made a new kayak launch area out that way so the parking situation might be improved at the dead end.

| I suggest you find some snow shoes without any steel components to avoid rust and improve your footing. |

| How far off is the barge wreck and the shell reef at those locations? Only bottom I seem to find is grass. |
