My 4 year old caught her first two fish today...both undersize flounder.

The wind and Memorial Day weekend boaters kept us off the water, but I took my sidekick to the marina to tinker on the boat today. We had about 45 minutes after we were done, so I grabbed a rod with a popping cork and a gulp and tossed it out for her.

I was busy working a paddle tail, and when I looked up, her cork was no where to be seen. I helped her keep the rod tip up, but she did all the reeling. She was a little squeamish after it came out of the water, but we'll work on that....should have her doing the filleting for me by the end of the summer!

Haha...she'd have to do any instruction. The only thing I caught was a little ribbing from her: "Daddy, why didn't you catch any fish?" "Maybe next time we can take turns with my fishing pole so you can catch one."

She will remember that moment for the rest of her life. Thats what it is all about.

I would wager most everyone here can remember their first fish and the joy it brought.
