We went fishing Sunday morning, south of Pita. It was a beautiful morning with a very low tide and the barometric pressure at 29.92. We were fishing gulp shrimp (natural color and white/pink tail) under popping corks. It was very slow, but we caught 3 dinks and one slot trout at 17". We were in by lunchtime.
About 4:30 p.m. I saw that the barometric pressure had dropped to 29.81 and the arrow was pointing downwards (I have a weather station at home). The only problem was that the wind was 17-24 mph, but on the bright side the tide was in quite a bit.
I decided to brave the wind and went back to the same area we had fished in the morning. I used new penny/chartreuse tail gulp shrimp under a popping cork. It was terribly rough and I had to brace myself against the console to keep my balance during my drifts, but I caught a trout on my second cast. I managed 7 dinks quickly and one keeper at 16 inches (but I dropped it while attempting to put it in the ice chest).
Then, for about 30 minutes I couldn't find a bite. I was fixing to go home satisfied knowing that the drop in pressure did turn on the bite. Suddenly, I had a solid hit and pulled in a 22" red. Within about 30 minutes I also caught a 24" red and a 24" trout.
Now it was so dark (I couldn't see 50 yards) and rough, I went home. I hadn't seen another boat the entire time.
At home, I checked the pressure and it was 29.74".
Here is my first fish picture to post on Corpus Fishing.com
They looked thicker before I had them on ice.....
