Made my way out to the end of the South Jetty this morning about 10am and it was beautiful... Water was clear on the channel side with a lite out-going tide. Put on my normal Lemon Rig and live shrimp but not taker's, so I changed to my spinning rod and reel and "free-lined" a live shrimp out about 25 ft from the channel side rocks. 15 seconds later a very large Skipjack wolfed down my bait and made some impressive leaps before bitting me off. Re-rigged with #6 trebble hook and made another cast. In less than a minute a 30" Red gobbled down my shrimp and made a good 25 yard run. Played it on my lite tackle for about 7-8 minutes and landed and released after a photo. Luckily I went back to my lemon rig because the next bite was a Big Jack Crevalle. The tide changed about 1pm and it was all over, weed and dirty water shut the fishing down... All in all a great day with Red's, Trout, and Jack's... Smile Cool Smile

Yep, I can. It works real well around rocks like jetties because when you pull it in for a new cast it pulls from the middle. Also you get two indications of a bite. One visual and one by feel. Check out this Web site...

Thanks...It says you can't cast it far...so do you just pitch it out off the rocks 15' to 20'? What kind of rod is best for this? Can you use just a 7' All-Star rod or a bigger surf rod best? The ReaLemon bottle, Is it those little round yellow lemon bottles?

I use a 8-1/2 foot steelhead rod (Med/Heavy) with a 6500C ambassedeur reel. The lenght of the lemon rig is based on the lenght of your rod. I can cast 40-50 yards with my rod & reel depending on wind conditions. The lemon bottles weight is based on how much water you put in the bottle. However, I don't use lemon bottles any longer, I use weighted floats... Try this setup next time you get a chance and it will all come together... Good Luck... Very Happy
