Is there any kayak groups around the area? Being new to the area it would be great to meet some other yak fishermen or women and learn how its done around here. Thanks

Slip on over to Texas Kayak Fisherman. They have kayaking groups arranged by city. There is always someone going out.

The local forum on Texas Kayak Fisherman is not very active as far as people posting in that section.

There are a couple of fly fishing clubs in the local area that many members who primarily use kayaks as there mode of transportation.

The two groups are Rockport Flyfishers and Laguna Madre Flyfishers. You may want to check out there websites.

It is total gulf fishing all of the time, and there are some extremely experienced people there. Check for Mythman; he fishes a lot of the Texas coast and knows many people. You can find partners and make friends there easily. It isn't a club per se, but it is a massive group of near shore (various distances-300 yards or 5 or 6 miles), dedicated to addicted to maniacal kayak fishrmen.

By my calculations that 1407

1407 x av. 20 lbs = 12.76 metric tons of fish............no wonder I have to replace so many bearings in my reels.

They also fish the flats, so check the Saltwater Board for that.

Having said that, if you want knowledge of fishing the Gulf with conventional tackle and fly tackle on PINS or any other part of the Texas shore, Corpusfishing is the place to be, and there are some kayakers here, too, but most here are shore fishermen or larger boat fishermen. These people know their stuff!!! For most, PINS is their specialty.
