im not a cheap person,practical is more like it .i about freaked on the prices
of a new pair of waders...my god..i can justify $ 100,150 but i saw prices of up to $500 !.DUDE ?,for that much you better be able to wear em to weddings,funerals.hell,bury me in em. Simms make a awesome pair,but the price ?,yikes !

Simm's Gore Tex are the best.
Check out Ebay. I got a great pair of slightly used for $75.
The Academy and Hodgman stuff is just junk.

several yrs ago I bought a pair of Cabelas waist/high 3mm neoprene boot-foot for $85... still use them but only maybe 1-2 times a yr.

I need to get me a new pair as well, my pair has seemed to shrink over the years.
I am wanting a breathable boot foot wader, but I don't want to spend more that $100-150 seeing how I only use them about three times a year at most.

I've bought the mag2 from academy twice.

Then went to the $200 pair of Simms .
They leaked after 1 year. The plus side the warranty was great and they sent me a new pair. Well now it's a year later and this weekend they showed signs of a leak or rather absorbing in water in 3 spots. Sending them in again.

I didn't plan on buying Simms for their warranty but for them being long lasting and that is not the case. I'm going to see if they can upgrade my waders if at all possible.

My .02 for what it's worth, we wade fish exclusively year around. Having kids growing up we tried several less expensive brands knowing they would only fit into them one or two years max. Hogeman, Academy, etc all developed leaks within a year or two and were of no use afterwards. Couple years ago we got the youngest into her Simms now that she's stop growing (we hope lol) and hers and her brothers both developed a leak in the same seem after last winter. So we pack them up along with my wives (4yr old waders) who ripped hers on a oyster shell this spring along with my g4's (5yrs old of hard use). Filled out the return paperwork online asking to see if the rip could be repaired if not then no biggie (our fault), recondition mine as they were looking a little rough, and to check out the seem on the other 2. Well a week later I get a call from Bozeman telling they looked over everything, thanked me for my business, and said they be sending me 4 brand new pair of waders. Another week later they were sitting on my porch when I got home from work. Customer service like that is getting harder and harder to find so I'll continue to bite the bullet and spend a little more the first time with Simms. I'm in the same boat with shorty though taller LOL! I get a year or two or more out of the Academy waders then they start to leak too much in the crotch or the legs etc. However, $400 seems a bit much.

I've used the Mag2 for the past few years. One pair got a leak in the knee from me climbing up a concrete bulkhead at work. Other than that, I haven't had any problems. One major cause of waders developing leaks is that folks don't hang them up. Folding them or just throwing them in the closet is asking for trouble.

I tried the Mag2's two years in a row only to leak and get returned by Spring time.

Really that is the way to do it if you don't want to pay a little more, buy them at Academy for wading season and return for other gear when they start leaking. Little shady but when you shell out a hundred and don't get one full season out of them I don't feel bad. I know it can't be that hard to make a durable set of waders but I guess they like it when you have to buy them every year.

Get some polar fleece wading pants for under your waders. They will keep you warm when (not "if") your waders spring a leak. Regular jeans will make you miserable when soaked.

Waders are one of my most frustrating experiences in my fishing life. Crying or Very sad

However, after trying everyone's waders including Orvis' breathables, I have only Cabela's and Simms to try. My wife fishes with me, so 2X the cost and all the more reason for caution. Both firms have great customer service, from what I read, and have experienced with Cabelas. Anyone had any experience with Cabelas involving waders and their repairs or replacements. Question
