Got a chance to knock something off my bucket list last weekend. Went on a tuna trip with a group of friends off another website. I don't have the gift of words like "Towboat Trash" or some other posters so I'll let the pictures tell most of the story.

We left early Friday morning to pretty calm seas and nice weather. First stop was to make some bait.

The boat ride took most of the day but finally we stopped around 130 miles from Port A. While there we fished several rigs, a drill ship, and trolled.

The afternoon consisted of mostly barracuda catches.

Finally it got dark.

With darkness the blackfin showed up.

A lot of them didn't make it to the boat though.

Some of the ones that did turned into "chunk" bait.

At some point I hooked into a "freight train".

After a pretty lengthy fight we got the gaff into one of my dream fish and he was on the deck!

I was a happy but tired man!!!

Stay tuned for the rest of the story..... Very Happy

We fished thru the night and did well on the black fin but only ended up with a few more of the big yellow fin. Also got a few dolphin thru the night. When daylight arrived we trolled for a bit but found some big dolphin schooling at a particular rig. We drifted that rig and enjoyed the action.

Some of them were VERY large.

We also caught a bunch of rainbow runners.

We spent the day and into the next evening loading the fish box.

We headed back early evening tired but happy. Luckily we had the makings for some tasty cerviche.

That morning we hit the dock and enjoyed our treat as our fish were unloaded. It was some kind of good!!!!

When the fish were sorted out I had done fairly well. Had two yellow fins at 60 and 70 lbs.

My biggest dolphin was 23 lbs.

I ended up with around 215 lbs. to take to the fish cleaners.

Here's my groups catch.

Here's the boat's catch.

It was a good time with some good folks! It's been a week so the bruises, sore muscles, and aches and pains are about healed. It was quite an adventure and I am ready to go back!!!

Saw you guys hanging fish when I went to get ready for a charter that morning, great haul!

If you can believe it, it was even more calm out there that day and the next.

You should do it! It was a 48 hour trip. We left a little after 6 Friday morning, about an hour later than schedualed. We got back around 6 on sunday morning.

Thanks for all the comments, it was a good time!
