You may want to look at the FinNor off shore models, I have had great luck with mine.http://www.finnorfishing.com/OffshoreOFS.html _________________ Salad, Salad, everywhere and not a bite to eat. |

A friend of mine uses the Daiwa Sealine 20sh. He upgraded the bearings and it casts very smooth. I use an AVET sx mc for casting with smaller weights and shrimp/fishbite combos. I don't get to try specifically for pomps very often because this thing called work gets in the way when there's a window. But when I have caught them, this set up worked.
I'm interested in seeing other responses. _________________ Great captains, the stuff of legend, are made not by what they have caught, but by what they have given back. |

I second the Avet SXMC or Penn Squall20. They both are magged and cast like a dream with no thumbing needed. |

Lmao! Thank you Steven!
A BG-30 of course! ....but if your set on a baitcaster, the Diawa sea lines are hard to beat. It's just pompano fishing! _________________ SOUTHERN CUSTOMS

I use a Calcutta 700 with 20lb test on my lighter 11ft graphite casting rods. I still have my old faithful 542 and 552 rods with Newell 454 and 113hlw reels. _________________ Life is Good |

Sealine 20, Garcia 6500, Penn 525 are my personal preferences. _________________ "If we don't leave any, there won't be any."

| I use Daiwa Sealines because they work great and can take a beating and I don't feel bad beating them up. That being said I am eying some Avets for this winter. |

I too like the 6500's. Only because I have a lot of kids and old people that want to catch the pompano too and you can't count on them to work the line back and forth on the reel.
I also like to toss spoons with the 10' 6 at jacks and you don't have to worry about working the line back and forth on the reel while you're frantically trying to get a lure in front of them. _________________ Like Corpusfishing.com on Facebook! |
