We fished from around 3PM till dark. Caught 4 black drum from 16" to 24". All were caught on fishbites. Didn't get any bites on mud minnows. Some grass floating but it wasn't bad. My map says it's called Aransas Channel. It was between the ferries and Aransas Pass. I was going to do some wading but the wind and cool temps changed my mind so we just tight lined.

Darn tootin' it is!!! Shocked Wish I had some right now.

One of the many times that I lived down there (5-6 grade) we had a neighbor down the street (Hamlin) who did great fish over charcoal with a quicky foil pan. He used butter, white wine and fresh lemon juice, and it was great!!! Very Happy

I've seen a lot on here about black drum over this size or that being no good to eat. I caught a 29 incher on the concrete pier at the NAS, and it was as good as anything else we had that way and that night..... And by that I mean GOOD!!!! Cool Wink

Mel, is shrimp fishbite better then crab fishbite or vice versa? I have never used it before, so anything you would share about using it would be appreciated.

I used shrimp fishbites and and squid both and they seemed to bite both of them the same, never tried crab. I use the strips and cut them however long I want. One of the redfish I caught earlier in the week was on the shrimp fishbites. Pomps and whiting like them too.
