Like everyone should know by now it was a brutal weekend. We fished our butts off from Friday morning till Sunday morning. The rain, rough surf, high winds and high tide couldn't run us off the beach. We stayed put and fished hard till the end.
We only caught a few fish all weekend but two of them turned out to be the right ones. We settled around the 26.5 mile mark. Bait used were live/cut mullet, skip jack, sting rays, cownose rays, dead shrimp, fish bites and even hardheads.
After a long wait and a few door prizes at the weigh in we find out the 68.5" blacktip shark that my wife Melinda caught was big enough to take 1st place.
We also find out that the 43" Jack Crevalle my daughter Audrey caught was good enough to win 1st place.
I couldn't be anymore happier. My girls brought home...
$3500 in winnings
2 trophies
2 custom rod and reels
2 kayaks
I say around $6500 in total winnings is something to be crazy excited about.
I also won a sweet raffle prize. A guided shark fishing trip with OZ of Ocean Epics.
Congrats to all the other winners and everyone who ruffed it all weekend.

Very nice. We were pretty close to you guys at around the 27 but no hookups. If there was a hard head division I probably would have placed well. Congrats to your team. It was a tough haul. We've been in 9 of them and this was the hardest but still cool. Next year  . |
