Finally, those pesky drones are off of our beach!

Not that you couldn't use them to locate turtles or anything...

Good, I would hate for them to see me sun bathing in my "banana hammock", lol.

Just talked to Mr. Spier, at PINS, he said you can NOT launch or land on PINS. He also commented that this was "interim" while they made a decision. I asked how long and his reply was 18 months!

You would think they had more to do than worry about drones, just look at is another thing the Feds are doing for you!

I was curious about this and tracked down the official press release from NPS.
I have attempted to post it, but have been unable to figure out how to do so.
I assume the ban on drones is for the same reasons we are not allowed to kiteboard in the park. Shorebirds and other small animals will be alarmed at what they perceive to be a predatory bird.

and what's the big deal with a DJI phantom taking pictures? why the sudden concern to the point of banning them?

of course we'll never get an explanation of that....just more rules of what you can't do on the Seashore....pretty soon we'll get ticketed for getting sand in our shorts....

Yeah those 5-6 minutes most drones we have are in the air can cause major havoc on the environment and are highly likely to injure migratory birds, beach goes, park staff and Turtles.

CC has it right. You may want to petition to make it a state park. Get it out of the Feds hands.

Law enforcement does not like prying eyes ....anytime, anywhere!!!

Last time I read the Constitution (which wasn't all that long ago), I don't remember it having anything in it that gives the Feds the right to control any land in any state.
