I know in the past they have made it sound horrible and its been great but im concerned after this little system went through and dont wanna waste a trip. TIA and I love the forum so far. |

Welcome!
I do not know about driving conditions down south, but they are fine around the Packery and BHP area.
Water is getting better every day and the fish are there. Plenty fishable. Good friend today caught a record trout (over 30) for him out of the surf today.
I would be concerned about the weather this weekend. They say it is gonna pour, but I have heard that for two months now, and I am beginning to wonder if I know what the definition of pour is. |

GO! Sand is hard and packed to the 18! Only one road really.... Mullet is thicker than I've ever seen and the predatory fish are right behind them! _________________

| well I think this trip is off due to the weather and surf forecast, looks like it may be a bit calmer up north, thinkin bout trying SLP, be something new for us. anyone have any advice up that way? like to see some shark but anything that pulls back will make a good weekend. |

SLP after dark can be a bit dicey. I would suggest some form of personal protection if you're gonna be camping out. Sharks can certainly be landed at the pass, as well as redfish and black drum. The surf trout fishing can be pretty solid as well up there. Good luck. _________________ "Ya'll must eat a lot of fish" |

At times the SLP can be dangerous. Aside from the rip current that drowns at least a few every year, there have been numerous assaults and robberies over the years. Like I said before, this is mostly after dark, but unless things have changed, you should exercise caution when camping there. _________________ "Ya'll must eat a lot of fish" |

We just got back last night. Driving is 2wd all the way to the jetty. Not necessarily a good thing as there were 4 trucks there when we rolled up. Nice for going up and down and looking for fish though. Jetty was dead not much for fish at sunup so we headed North and found plenty along the way. _________________ JJ |

we ended up goin down friday morning to the 49 and after getting some phone service and seeing all the lightning we packed it up, ended it with a big jack and 5 blacktips up to 5', nothing huge but we had a good time anyway. 2wd would have definitely not gotten you far when we came in around 1030pm friday.
