|
|
| Hey guys, I'm an avid saltwater fisherman new to Texas (North Dallas). Me and three friends are planning a 4-night camping/fishing trip to PINS in early October. I've already spent hours upon hours planning and preparing but I would like to hear your opinions as to what are some things that you could not live without on a PINS camping trip, particularly in early October. We'll be fishing from shore, kayak and in the Laguna madre for anything and everything, including sharks. Any ideas? |

How far down PINS? That makes a big difference. _________________ "I know that you believe that you understood what you think I said, but I am not sure you realize what you heard is not what I mean." |

get a cheap 1gal pump garden sprayer...
save your beer boxes for a mat...
heat water... you have a pot and camp stove, right?
fill sprayer
wet down.
lather
rinse.
sleep well.
a person can have a nice clean shower w 1/2 gal water
in a pump sprayer.
or just leave the water container in the sun all day..
still plenty warm on Oct for a good bath.
way better sleeping when clean...
and baby powder everywhere until its overload... _________________ the creepy uncle that scares the kids.... |

Baby powder and extra water. Freeze water bottles and gallon jugs a couple days prior. It's been the best thing I've tried as far as keeping ice _________________ -Pat |

I do this for my bait and fish ice chest and reuse/replace them as needed. Way cheaper than buying ice each time.
I freeze half of the drinking water that I take and put it in the bottom of the food ice chest load the food and top with bagged ice. It works for us and you always have some cold water. I also use pillow cases filled with sand instead of stakes for a tent and shade canopy. Works great and is cheap. Cactus burner to start camp fires. _________________ Great captains, the stuff of legend, are made not by what they have caught, but by what they have given back. |

Haven't tried this yet but my buddy swears by the "water-birth" method. |

WD-40 also takes the tar off. Run over to lowes and buy the plastic shoe box containers to freeze blocks in. They are perfect. Duct tape and zip ties are always useful along with the previously mentioned items. Crown is a must if you are getting the jitters before paddling a bait out at midnight
Have fun and be safe. |
