I'm entertaining the thoughts of buying this reel for my wife's use and wondered what experience the members here had with this reel. I love the ideal of the Stella or the VS, but those are not in my budget. |

I have been very pleased with the Ci4 in 2500 series.
Very light and durable. _________________ Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience. |

They are sweet especially for lures since they are so light |

Just get her the Sahara 2500... she wont know the difference, for the money, I don't see much of a difference b/w the two. I used to use a Stradic but have been using the Sahara now the past 10 yrs _________________ But you ain't got no legs Lt. Dan, I know that |

I've used Sustains 2500 for years and I switched over to the CI4 and now the CI4+, the difference in weight is very noticeable, I set up my wife with the Sahara2500 w/ Blair Wiggins Wright & McGill rod and when she handles my rig for any reason she asks why is mine so much lighter. 😳. If she would take care of her equipment I wouldn't mind buying her the exact same rig as mine but needles go down my spine every time I see here drop her reel in the water, drag her tip across the concrete, stow her hook in the guides. But anyways yeah the CI4+ is the "reel" deal |

I bought the C14+ 3000, but have not put line on it, yet. It's an impressive little reel from just handling it, and I look forward to seeing how it handles. Blackhawk, I appreciate your response, and wish I could help you with your wife's mistreatment of her equipment. However, I guess I should be happy mine leaves all of the equipment rigging and maintenance to me.
BTW, on the hook in the guides issue, Academy carries some little rubber or vinyl double loop thingees (one small and one large loop) which you put on the rod above the reel seat and to hook into the small loop. The thingee stretches, so you can keep the line tight against the drag. I prefer hooking to the thingee versus a wire loop built into the rod for the same purpose. Sorry I can't help with the dunking of the reel or her dragging the tips. |

Well her rod has a hook keeper built in but she chooses not to use it or forgets. Oh I use to do all the maintenance all her rig as well but I guess since she knows she doesn't have to fix/maintain it she's didn't take care of it. And when I'm sitting at the table with my reel in pieces cleaning and lubing she walks by and I ask if she wants me to help her with hers she says hers doesn't need it. My kids take better care of their equipment and try to clean and lube their reels. I spoon mine with 8# slick 8.[/url] |
