Getting dragged down there for the weekend but was told ok to take the boat. The problem is I have never fished there. Just some general ideas and spots to look for would really help. Thanks in advance.

Also is there croker or available?

No croaker!!! Trout killing little devil bait. Buzz around and fish it's a paradise. Nothing like CC area.

South Bay is a good spot, but if the low tide is still around it can very tricky. Fishing the dredge islands on the Inter costal canal going north from the island bridge can be productive.

I'd save your gas money and hire a guide, they charge about half of what Corpus Area guides cost. Like 350.00 for a half day... whenever I go down there I always go to the marinas when the guides come in and this guy always has a bunch of fish: Capt Gencho Buitureira 956-943-2459, his website is www.southpadrebayfishing.com

This Monday, we drifted the color changes near the intracoastal North of the causeway for a couple of hours and managed a bunch of dinks and 4 keepers. I'm sure if we'd kept at it, we could have done better.

That's what we've done when I have been down there. Beware of those low spots don't ask me how I know.

I haven't been in a couple weeks but judging from the road the tide looks a bit low. If you don't know South Bay I would not suggest going in there. Sometimes trout are pretty good drifting north of the bridge (usually small trout with some keepers here & there). Cruise around north of the bridge however far you want to go. Look for color changes & try them all. Just make sure it's deep enough before you stop. It's a weird year. Fishing hasn't been that great but have done ok a few times.

Was down there this past week and there is absolutely no water in south bay. We even managed to stick an airboat while driving around back there.
