What a hell of a trip to Corpus Christi!
First, my radiator busted just south of Houston. Kerchunk at the dealership to replace it.
And then off on the road to pick up a spare wheel for my trailer. Good thing because I had ended up with a flat on the trailer once I got into a Whataburger off of Staples and SPID. Lucky me! Thanks to having the spare and Triple A service!
Then Monday/Tuesday night/morning, my Yeti Tundra 65 that was locked with Yeti's metal clip and a cable through it was broken off of the boat and gone the Yeti! Lucky me! Honestly, I was lucky that they didn't take anything else like the engine! Thanks Corpus Christi for the welcome back!
To the person(s) that stole my Yeti, please return it and all is FORGIVEN! Consider yourself(ves) lucky and God watched over you because a Browning HiPower would have had you in sight with Fort Knox sharpshooter expert training!

One brick or anything else hard and it's out there (too), that's why you don't leave anything of value showing in the car....... [/i] _________________ Dave

If it's important to you try your best to secure it.
I put my igloo coolers off my boat at night. _________________ Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience. |

You're absolutely right on that one!
I had a false sense of security using Yeti's metal clip to cable lock the cooler. If a thief wants to steel anything cable locked, they damn will use a bolt cutter to break the cable/chain to get at whatever is locked up.
They will also break into vehicles as it only takes few minutes to break into the vehicle and get away with the items.
My next cooler is my inexpensive Igloo Marine cooler. They'll steal that too I'm sure! I'll just need to find a junk looking cooler and use that! _________________ Live to Fish... Fish to Live

Had my igloo marine cooler stolen out of my truck bed last winter. Covered in blood and guts from one of our dove hunts. Didn't stop the jerks from taking it that night. Haha jokes on them though. The inside was nasty that day. _________________ It's not the destination, the journey is everything. |

Has anyone ever engraved/carved/melted their name and phone number into the cooler, in such a way that doesn't damage the integrity of the cooler but would devalue it in a way that its tougher to sell at a pawn shop? Is this even possible? _________________ ...if my boss ever finds this forum I'll be unemployed... |

I'm going to design some bracket that encases my next cooler and put several thick chains twisted up so that it'll be hard to get a bolt cutter on that sucker. Then again, what a pain in the supple bum having to go through just to safeguard an ice chest! _________________ Live to Fish... Fish to Live

I suppose I am just lucky. I had a 100qt Yeti in the back of my truck unsecured for two years. And the last three years I have had an Icey Tek 105qt back there. I park my truck in the street in front of my house every night as well. Never had either one of them touched.
Not all of Corpus is bad but we do have some less than desireable elements just like anywhere else. _________________ Steven |

I have found that the best security for the Yeti is to buy a bigger one. I'd like to see a thief TRY and lift my 155 when it's loaded with ice/water/beer in the back of my truck (4" lift, 35" tires). From personal experience, two men working together would have problems just pulling it out of there, let alone lifting it. _________________ Fish ON! |
