I have just bought some Storm Wildeye lures (http://www.stripersonline.net/cart/shop/wildeye.htm) that actually look like the real thing, kind of. Have you all used them and what have been your results?
Thanks,

| I own a package of these that I bought from Gander Mountain. (I am not much of a lure kind of guy when fishing the ocean, so I wouldn't know how effective they are. Best bet is to use them under pier lights when ya see a gazillion trout! ....I have the worst luck using artificials in the surf. I prefer shrimp and lots of hardheads! (at least i have bragging rights! LOL)..... |

Some buddies of mine kicked my tail using the chartreuse version a couple of years ago on PINS during Father's Day weekend. Honestly I don't think I have gotten a bite on them since. I think they are too heavy for the Laguna unless you are fishing the ditches, channels ICW etc where they would be excellent.
I have also heard of guys catching and releasing undersized snook on them along the inside of Mansfield Channel along the rocks.

I would imagine they would do alright in the surf, but I have used them in the Laguna, and they are more trouble than they are worth, with the hook set the way it is, I picked up nothing but grass on just about every cast. I will agree though, they l;ook very appealing. _________________ CONSERVATION IS KEY |

I haven't had any luck with them either. Just too heavy, I think.
This summer, I plan to try them in the surf, using a wire metal leader, thrown out really far and reeled really fast for the bigger spainish macs and kings. _________________ GOBZA!!!

I used to use Color-Rite soft plastics until Academy took them off the shelf.
I have been looking for something to replace the Color-rite.
The wild eyes have surpassed what I was able to do with the Color-rite products regardless of day or night.
In regards to heaviness as posted by some, purchase lighter ones as they do come in diferent sizes.
I am a firm believer in the product and my freezer has the evidence to prove it.
By the way, the Macs love these baits so make sure you take several packages when fishing the surf. |

| I USE THEM QUITE FREQUENTLY UNDER THE LIGHTS AND DURING THE DAY ALONG THE ROCKS OF THE KING RANCH SHORELINE JUSI BEFORE THE LAND CUT. IVE HAD LOTS OF LUCK WITH THEM BOTH DAY AND NIGHT.YOU NEED TO USE THEM WITH A FAST PACED RIPPING RETRIEVE DURING THE DAY WITH INTERMENTENT PAUSES. WHEN YOU GET A HIT YOU WILL NOT BE GUESSING ABOUT IT. KEEP A PAIR OF LONG NEEDLE NOSE PLIERS HANDY BECAUSE THEY TEND TO DEEP THROAT THEM. I HAVE FOUND THAT AS THE MULLET RETURN TO THE SHALLOW WATER THEY WORK THE BEST. THIS IS FROM AROUND THE BEGINING OF SPRING THROUGH OUT THE SUMMER TO THE BEGINNING OF WINTER. DURING THE COLDER MONTHS( HA.HA.) YOU NEED TO SLOW THE RETRIEVE TO ALMOST A CRAWL AND BOUNCE IT ALONG THE BOTTOM. MY PREFERED COLORS ARE THE 3 INCH MODEL WITH A PADDLE TAIL IN PEARL WITH A CHARTRUESS BACK AND PALIN PEARL. STRAIGHT LINES TO YA. |

Floating Cabin,
The very first time I layed eyes upon these holographic plastic baits, I was, well, hooked! They are incredibly life-like and neat! (I even kept one of the mullet immitations in my truck's console, so that I could look at it while waiting for the traffic light to turn green! ....Yeah, that may sound weird to normal people; but fisherman are often known to have peculiar habits of playing with our tackle at any given time! ... We look for any excuse to rearrange our tackle boxes as well! LOL )....
I can't wait until I try them again. I don't remember the size that I currently have... I believe they are 4.5" long and came in a six pack bag.
Oh.....if you want even more of a realistic plastic bait, look for the Tsunami line..... Those will blow you away! |

| THE SUMANI LINE HAS A COUPLE THAT RESEMBLE GLASS MINNOWS. ONE IS SLIGHTLY GREEN WITH A SEE THRU BODY AND SLENDER WITH A SPLIT TAIL. THE OTHER IS SORT OF GOLD AND BROWN ALSO SEE THRU SLENDER WITH A SPLIT TAIL . IVE USED BOTH THE 3 AND 4 INCH ONES AND HAVE HAD VERY GOOD RESULTS UNDER THE LIGHTS. DURING THE DAY NOT TOO MUCH LUCK. I GUESS IT IS DUE TO THE SLENDER SHAPE OF THE BODY. I DEFINANTLY BREAK THEM OUT WHEN THE FISH SEEM FINICKY. STARIGHT LINES TO YA. OH BUY THE WAY I CARRY MY TACKLE BOX IN MY PASSANGER SEAT SO I CAN BROWSE THRU IT AT STOP LIGHTS. I THINK SOME PEOPLE BEHIND LIKE FISHING ALSO BECAUSE THEY ARE ALWAYS HOLDING UP THEIR HAND, I THINK THEY ARE TELLING ME I'M NUMBER ONE BECAUSE THERE IS ALWAYS ONLY ONE FINGER SHOWING. STRAIGHT LINES TO YA. |

You guys are all right! I love looking at and handling my stuff, and I love lures! They are fun to buy and fun to have. As far as I'm concerned, they're an art form. And, they're even more fun when they catch fish!

I have used them in the surf at the mansfield jetties. They are very effective on redfish if they are there and are also like candy for jack crevalle. If you use them on the jacks they are a one time use lure because all you get back is a weighted hook. But yeah they work if you use them when fish are present.
The secret to Fishing is...... Fish where the fish are. |
