You'll be OK in your 4x4, just proceed cautiously until you get used to it and don't take chances, maybe follow another truck from a distance and see where he struggles so you're ready, etc...
As for the fishing, small amount of fresh dead shrimp is a good start and will get you catching all sorts of things. You can work your way up the food chain from there. Fish Bites are great to have if the hardheads are thick, using them instead of shrimp will save you some frustration in these cases. If you don't catch anything in 15 minutes, move. _________________ JJ |

| If you go south of Bob Hall you will have no problems getting stuck. Was there today and fished first gut with fishbites/shrimp and got about15 whiting and a 23" drum between 11am and 2pm. Good luck! |

Don't have to worry about those bait stealers right now. |

Right now best luck will be with shrimp and fishbite combos for reds, black drum, whiting, pomps and possibly sheepshead. Hardhead catfish will be there too.
Lots of sargassum coming in so you might want to fish short rods in the wade and first guts. |

Learn to read the surf for breaks in the sandbars and pinch points. For the first, look for spots along the surf where the waves roll over a sandbar but don't crest. For the latter, look for spots where the waves converge from opposite directions (it will look like a V pointing out towards the water). (Theres a ton of info out there, do a google search on "reading the beach for surf fishing)
Also, you always have to go deep to find good fish. Ive had my best luck throwing into the wade and first gut. _________________ Wishin' I was Fishin'... |

| Don't. There are no fish there. Should you ignore my advice, that cheapo rod and reel you have will turn into a garage full of high tech casting gear all with a minimum length of 12' and weights of only 2ounces. Not to mention the sore spot with the wife for having all of it. |
